October 27, 2003 -- ANCHOR Brian Williams is expected to leave CNBC next September and join "NBC Nightly News" full time, sources say. The move will further pave the way for NBC anchor Tom Brokaw to step down from the "Nightly" anchor desk and help to further familiarize viewers with Williams, who is expected to take over the job after the 2004 presidential election. Williams, 44, has been splitting his time between his evening CNBC telecast "The News with Brian Williams" and "Nightly" for time.

Williams strikes me as even more smug than Brokaw.

The Alphabet (ABC, CBS, etc...) newscasts are a dying breed. This might of been a story before cable, but now Americans will just shrug and say, "Who cares."

Yeah, balanced people have Fox News. Unbalanced people have CNN. The networks don't need to have news shows. They could run Seinfeld syndication or something in that slot and get better ratings.

He appears to be a preppy elitist white boy. Maybe he has middle America roots but if he does, he sure hides them.

Well, at least Williams doesn't have a speech impediment. However, he reminds me of the William Hurt character from Broadcast News.
To: mewzilla
Wow, he covered the Stock Market collapse and survived. Impressive.

LOL. Well, don't shoot the messenger. I don't make the news, I just report it :) (As opposed to some I could mention...)

No shots aimed in your direction. Thanks for the information. :-)

"I can't say I have any idea what Brian Williams thinks about anything."That's how it should be...an anchor shouldn't be a commentator. An anchor should keep his views and opinions to himself and just read the dang teleprompter. Still, this Williams cat could be 100% fair and balanced and it still wouldn't get me to watch NBC, or any other broadcast network newscast...they shot themselves in the foot long ago in my eyes. Fox is the only news I watch.

...forget, when did the market collapse and leave us all jobless and homeless and left us all standing in souplines? which collapse was that? Before Williams was a twinkle in his mommy's eye I would've thought. Maybe he covered it in his last life.

Did you really mean George Hamilton?
To: tkathy
Williams is a big NASCAR fan....the major media perception is that NASCAR fans are all rednecks and bigots....is Williams a redneck and bigot by association?
