The problem is that a relatively small part of what has burned in these fires is anything like forest of the sort over which environmentalists conflict with extractionists. Except for up where it's getting into Crestline and that area, most of this is brush fire, and no one's fighting to cut brush. If anything, they're complaining about being forced to clear brush away from their buildings when the fire inspectors come around every summer.

Was talking about the San Bernardino Forest. I know they have not been able to clear out the trees, etc., killed by the beetles.

People are really dumb if they don't clear out the underbrush -- really dumb! I can remember burning chaparral in the backyard after clearing it off before putting in a lawn. The chaparrel went up in seconds and ended up ash in the blink of an eye. If that isn't cleared out, a wildfire would expand very rapidly.
