I heard that one branch of the mountain fires is now headed in the direction of Wrightwood. Does anyone have any update on this? I'm sitting in my office in downtown Los Angeles but live in the foothills above Glendale.

They are showing the smoke covering San Bernardino county t the east and Simi Valley to the north.

Channel 5 moved their truck along with the firecrews and where they left on the 118 is now completely covered in smoke and the fire onces again jumped 118 at another place.

I was just in Wrightwood in early June. I'd never even heard of it before -- I attempted a complete hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, but actually had to quit -- in Wrightwood as a matter of fact -- with injury. I remember thinking how dry and wooded the surrounding hills were, and I seem to recall that there was a fire near there quite recently. There was a very nice woman who let my wife and me stay there when we quit our hike. I hope she's OK, though I can't for the life of me remember her name. All I remember is she lived up in the hills above the downtown.
