I live in that area and as of right now, there appears to be no immediate danger. Its getting darker outside by the moment.

So far, fire burned right up to parts of Santee, but no homes lost.

That's the name of the road -- knew someone would pick up on my spelling and give the exact road. Hard to catch the name when they don't show a graphic with the name.

Looks like the choppers are getting the Simi Valley fire at least the part that crossed 118 under control. They showed pictures of the blackened area about the water towers and how they saved the houses right beneath the towers.

thank you thank you so much for your map/picture of the fires. It helps sooo much. Keep them coming as update.

I'm piecing maps together from superpages.com but your's really helps those of us in the midwest who don't know the area very well.

Thanks. I would hope that the way the valley is so built up there wouldn't be enough brush to burn as much. Or do homes burn just as easily as brush? I don't know.

A thread has just been started on the CNN/Stern call. Here is the post:
I was sitting here watching CNN as they are covering the California wildfires. They were doing an interview with an actor about his role in a movie about a fraudulent reporter for the magazine "The New Republic". CNN cuts off the middle of this interview and breaks to a phone call with the "mayor of San Diego" who reportedly has news about three arrests in connection with the fires. They put this guy on the radio and he states that, "three arrests were made in connection with the fires. He cannot release the names of the people but can confirm the fires started with "wind coming out of the ass of Howard Stern." The CNN host (Darian Kagan), was furious, the network quickly goes to break and Kagan is still flustered.

Wow.... I hope it stays that way, but the darkening skies don't bode well. I cannot imagine what this must be like for you. Wish i could be there to help. God bless......

Santee has been mentioned last night. Don't have a current update. Prayers to your family.
Emergency communications only requested.

They said on KTLA because this was a relatively new area with the houses built under the new fire regulations and the brush cleared from around the houses, it was much better and easier to save.

If I had a shake roof on my house and lived near one of the Canyons, it would be replaced ASAP. We bought a house with a tile roof in CA for that reason -- refused to look at houses with shake roofs in CA and for that fact, anywhere we have lived after seeing how fast embers can take out a house with a shake roof.

F*** Howard Stern. I don't know if people realize just how bad this thing is but I'm basically in the middle of it and that is not funny in the slightest.

I agree, there's nothing funny about the situation. As I've mentioned, my little sister is in San Diego (Rancho Sante Fe). Her computer in online as I see her screen name on IM but I haven't heard from her since last night. I can only assume she's busy with her two young daughters. It is indeed a harrowing experience for all those living through this nightmare.

The absence of the POTUS in the next 24 hours from California will cause the loss of this state in this election year.If he shows up in the next 24 hours, the democrats will scream that he is grand-standing just for political gain. "It was such a cheap political ploy on the part of a failing president to gain votes" sigh.
They will wait until the fires are gone before he is allowed to go there. Either way democrats get to scream. "He does not care about the little people because he is still in Washington" or " cheap political show to show up here, he does not care he just wants votes".

Whats a Daryn Kagan Wasn't that the big bad in "Highlander"?

To: Conservative4Ever
Thanks...I can hardly bear to imagine what they are going through right now-- Married firefighters, probably assigned to separate locations today, and probably neither is working in the neighborhood where they live... Worrying about each other, and about their home... while at the same time, focusing on the job they are doing, and on keeping others (and themselves) safe...
