Simi Valley Fire -- has cross 118 once again going toward a housing area, but they now have the choppers in the air dropping a mixture alternated with water on the side of the freeway. Fire is reburning what was burned an hour ago there and the flames are getting higher. This is near Cooter Road (sp). The homes that were threatened this morning are once again threatened.

Give me a chill in the spine hearing this from the firechief. Pray that this won't happen.

Are you ready to leave if you have to?

Actually, I am on my way out right now to see a client. I'm a ways from the fire, and won't be gone long. It's easy for me to evacuate... take kid & dogs, and let the rest go - it's just stuff, and not my first time.

How far are you from where the fire has crossed?

I am in Northrige, several miles east, and 3 miles south of the 118. I am fine right now, unlike some of our closer Freepers.

Thank God, you're still in your home. I barely slept at all last night and you were on my mind and in my prayers.

"Davis talked (I think it was)this morning about asking AZ and NV for help"

Last night I saw a local news story on some Phoenix firefighters/paramedics packing up to head to San Diego; not sure how many or what their status is..

I think it was you that posted the update on Santee on the duplicate thread. I was in the process of thanking you and the thread was pulled.
My brother who is in the Navy (20yrs) just moved his family to Santee. We were unable to reach him last night, now I know why. On Sat his wife said the air was thick with smoke, the pool filled with ash. My bro was traveling to LA with his boys who were to play in a hockey game yesterday. I hope they made it okay, I will try to reach them again later.
Queen, how are you doing?? Is this disaster close to you?
Stay safe ALL!

That's kind of the way we have to deal with hurricanes.

Of course, the difference is we're never afraid for our lives -- at least those of us inland.

Stay safe!

They are trying to keep the fire from moving south any farther than it has already. It is now moving to the SW toward Kuner (sp) road and the choppers are trying to contain the fire now to keep from spreading anymore to the SW!

The wind is now blowing in the Simi Valley canyons at 25-35 mph

When I woke up an hour ago it was pretty calm in the middle of Simi Valley, but starting just a few minutes ago the winds have started to really pick up (this is about the time of morning that it normally happens). That's obviously not good news.

The big, big fear was that the fire would jump to the south of the 118 freeway. Now that it's happened they are desperately trying to control the outbreak. I can hear a constant parade of helicopters. If the winds are able to spread the fire into the huge open spaces which are south of Simi Valley, the fire can then race all the way over to the populated areas along the 101 freeway as well as into expensive new communities along the western edge of the San Fernando Valley.

It looks like I'll be staying home today. There's no good way to get out of Simi Valley and into Woodland Hills where I work.

It wasn't me. I wish I could be of help to people other than lamely saying how I recently hiked near many of these areas, and that I know 5-10 people in the affected towns. Now that I think of it, I think there was a couple from Escondido who gave my wife and me a ride to Julian during a rainstorm along the Sunrise Highway north of Mount Laguna. The more I think about it, the more people I remember.

>> I've lived in San DIego since 1972 and have never seen it like this. The only way to describe the conditions here is "Nuclear Winter". I, like most people are staying home today.

My sister and her husband live in Alpine. They are currently on vacation, and they phoned last night to tell me the fires were 2 miles from their home, according to their neighbors. Do you have an update?

Look, POTUS can't come here --- it's too dangerous and there's not a damn thing he can do at this point in time.

He's NOT a photo-op, mug for the media cameras, type of president, and for that I thank God.

As I've been telling you, POTUS will come here shortly AFTER Arnoild is sworn in.
