The whole half of California is under smoke and this idiot thinks more paperwork is needed!

EXCERPT
...Authorities announced they were seeking two men for investigation of arson and possibly murder in connection with the fire, which ravaged foothill neighborhoods of San Bernardino and threatened mountain homes. One man was seen Saturday morning throwing something into roadside brush that caught fire, then he and a companion fled in a white or gray van, officials said.

Van - Chevy or Dodge, per KFI

I simply don't understand the lack of coverage. This is far, far bigger than Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy, Kobi Bryant, Elizabeth Smart, and similar stories that garnered news alerts every few minutes. Maybe if someone dropped the hint that a crazed sex maniac started these fires, the cable companies would become interested. At least that's the common thread (sex) I see in the stories they do choose to cover.

Yes, it's at times like this that the local news teams really shine.
Fox 11 really didn't do a great job letting their news teams get out in the field.
I'm not impressed with the management at KTTV. They were sitting on the biggest newsstory in a generation and failed to let their own news team do their job.

Used to drive that road through Oak Glen in the spring of the year when all the trees were blooming and then into Cherry Valley -- it is gorgeous up there.
The day the movers moved our household goods back in the 80's, there were fires in the Crafton Hills and right behind Oak Glen. They had to load everything direct in the moving van and could not let the boxes/furniture sit on the sidewalk because of all the ash.
Oak Glen is beautiful -- still have the best pies in the Country up there! Was out in that area not too long ago.
I was driving into Von's parking lot on Yucaipa Blvd and saw another fire break out in the Crafton Hills -- really scarey. We lived on the upper part of Yucaipa about a mile from Oak Glen Road -- used to keep certain items in a closet in case of an evacuation.
When I first heard about the fires first word I heard was Crestline and Big Bear and been glued to news ever since.

the FEMA goon was on TV in LA yesterday saying that the Gov's office needed to send him more paperwork! I worked for the state of CA during the Northridge earthquake. They sent me to a FEMA center for several months to assist with tax questions. Mostly, I handed out tissues, listened to people, and gave candy to the kids.
I have never seen a more petty, back-stabbing, ego-driven group of people than those employed by FEMA.

Sir, I did NOT read anything incorrectly. I heard it from the FEMA goon's mouth. If the White House wants California, load the President on a plane and get him to San Bernardino.
He was there two weeks ago.
Put the same team into gear and get him back there.

KFI reporting that fire has jumped highway 18. Also says they're looking for two young white males in a gray van who were in the area on Saturday. One of them threw a device out of the window. So much for the old news..
Just talked to a woman in Big Bear who said things are clear there, but that her gas station yesterday ran out of fuel. Should be a warning to Mountain folks.

We went to satellite about three months ago and signed up to get superstations around the Country. Since then, I have tuned into KTLA for news at midnight here when the cable news networks refuse to cover during the day.
If I still had cable, I would be getting very little news. KTLA just had to evacuate one of their reports in the Devore area because the fire started getting too close as it flared back up.
Cable News could care less since someone wasn't murdered or rape if you ask me!

How ya-ll doing this morning?
I'm fine, news isn't. Air is thick, though not quite as bad as yesterday.
Even the pre-school is closed today so lucky me, I have toddler comapany.

Oak Glenner here. Things are clear. Dry but clear.

So, you're saying that the White House is afraid?
If the POTUS and WH are afraid of the Democratic Party, what does that say about our chances against terror?

I understand my friend. The President in a tape from this morning per Fox was meeting with L. Paul Bremmer (sp) this morning and the media asked him some questions and Calif. came up. The reporter asked him if the government was going to help and the President said yes, anything that is needed and that the head of FEMA was on the way.

Fox 11 really didn't do a great job letting their news teams get out in the field. I'm going back and forth between KTTV & KCBS; CBS2 is doing a far better job of getting a good overall view of everything. Fox11 seems more concerned with letting Steve Edwards and his girls run their collective mouths.

right... going to work now...signing off...
will be checking and monitoring the situation thru the day..
good luck with the toddlers... you'll have your handsful.
maybe you can do some coloring projects with the kids so that they can work out their feelings in art.
Sometimes the kids need some calm and fun.
Art is a good way to let a child express themselves without becoming too stressed.

The new FEMA is much better than the old FEMA. OKC area when the last tornadoes hit had experience with the new group -- much improved from the Clinton days when the Moore tornado hit. People could not believe the difference -- they were here right away and actually provided immediate assistance.

that's always the way KTTV is.
The girl on the right (who's on Fox Sports too) just said something about her "green card".
Who the heck is the management stooge who keeps putting NON-Americans on our TV news programs?
Who's plan is it to have NON US Citizens telling us what to think in the morning?

Thanks for the info about Oak Glen -- I figured the smoke was blowing to the ocean just like the worst smog stays down there. You live in a beautiful area -- Oak Glen was always my favorite -- cannot even count the number of Law's pies we bought over the years we lived there.
