I heard it on NBC this morning that he got separated from his hunting party and set off something to signal his position. I doubt a hunter in a high risk fire area where a campfire is banned would do such a thing.

KFI reporting the fire in the San Bernardino Mountains is going from bad to worse. They have ordered mandatory evacuations for Arrowbear (not Big Bear) along with some other areas and asking people to take Rt 18 to Big Bear and then take 18 to the desert or Rt 38 to Redlands. Right now on only residents can go up Rt 38 to Big Bear.

Earlier KFI reported that they had set backfires near Rim of the World High School.
