Is Syria serious about making an effort to stymie the border crossings? Of course not. But the Bush administration's complacence with our own borders has given this Syrian offical the rope to hang us with. I don't disagree with wanting our borders closed, although using U.S. troops to do so seems to be against the rules. There's far more than a dozen bad guys a year crossing Syria's borders who are killing our people, so I would have to insist that the Syrian get cracking with his responsibilities since it's having an immediate impact on our troops.

Do you recognize the sheer assininity of this statement? Not slamming you, I think it's true. But if our armed forces are not allowed to defend the border of our OWN COUNTRY, it is time to disband the military and start over from scratch.
