Hey FReepers. It has been a while since my last post. I am in Sunny Pensacola Florida about to start A-School as a Navy Ordanceman. I'm writing from the Portside which is a Navy hangout on the base. This is the first time I have been able to access the internet since I left for Boot Camp (RTC or Recruit Training Command) last August.
Pensacola, so far, is heaven compared to RTC which is held in Great Lakes (i.e. north Chicago).
RTC was not too bad. It was a little hard as I am a bit older than many of the other recruits and was more used to my freedom than they were. Nonetheless, I stuck it out and am now rewarded with a hell of a lot more freedom!!!
I am currently suffering (yeah right) through Phase A liberty which means I have to abide by a few more rules but it is not too terrible though I sure wish I could enjoy a beer! Hopefully, I will get Phase B libert next week which will allow me to knock back a few cold ones and wear civilian clothes.
Anyhow, I'll likely be posting somewhat regularly for the next couple of months or so before I go to my duty station so any words of advice would definately be encouraged.
Cheers!
Drew

Congratulations Drew and thank you very much for entering the service of our country. I did both recruit training and Personnelman Class A school in Orlando (RTC was there before a consolidation decision.) during the spring and early summer of 1973. Good luck with you enlistment. It's a good thing whether you serve a single hitch and then enter a civilian career or stay 20 or 30 years. I did 20 myself finishing as a Lieutenant.

I had to look at that one for a bit to see what was wrong with it.
Ahh blasted typos! (FTR, it is Ordnanceman) Pardon my spelling. It has been a while and my fingers (and brain) are a little scrambled right now! ;-) (Yes, I'm sober).
