The failure of inspectors to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is not surprising. Once again, high-tech analysis by our intelligence community got it wrong. It's a long tradition: the ouster of the Shah of Iran, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Sept. 11 attacks. In each case, our intelligence community failed to predict these historic events.

The Torricelli Rule, concocted in the Clinton years, according to which CIA was not permitted to have working relationships with people of dubious ethical standing. This utter absurdity (I mean, if CIA can't work with bad guys, why do we need a secret intelligence service? Even a foreign-service officer can talk to nice people) was swallowed whole by Clinton and Deutch..

Thank you for the source and info on the Torricelli Rule unloaded on us by Sen. Torricelli, DEMOCRAT!

Speaking of intelligence failure Mr. Aviv illustrates it. The problem may be "our intelligence community's overemphasis on technology" but the cause of that problem is the Democrats' destruction of our intelligence community. Beginning with the Church committee and continuing through every year the Dems had the power to do it destroying our intelligence and military have been their "gift" to the world to protect it from "evil" America.

On our present course, we will soon find ourselves reeling from another attack on American soil.

Now the author knows why the hate-American-sovereignty Democrat leaders do it to us.

BUMP...

The facts of your post cannot be overemphasized.

The Clintonian actions of the 90's decimated our intelligence services, and now CIA has to resort to full-page "help wanted" ads to recruit people who might be able to function effectively after 5-10 more years.

A huge effort is underway to train civilians for spotting, though. This might work for the short run.
