I'll let you guys go after this. I know most of you are on the West Coast, probably, but congrats to the Florida Marlins fans. And to the Yankee fans, I say: "Well, aren't we a bit spoiled?". LOL. Good night.

I think the kid was confused as to who was calling him to go to that school. On 2nd thought, I'm sure he knows exactly who's work he's doing.

If FL private schools have a great deal of authority.
Though this case does point out the strings attached to vouchers.

In this case the school was:
A. WRONG to ask
B. WRONG to expel
If the student was not expousing homosexuality nor making outward overtures that exposed his 'preference', the teacher shouldn't have asked (IMHO) but even if the teacher asked in a 'caring' manner, the conversation should have stayed onl;y between the two, and never passed to the higher authorities, who should have NEVER given him an ultimatum.
NOT very Christian - if they wanted to convert him, perhaps showing compassion would have worked much better than castigation.

It is wrong to be homosexual. It is also wrong and a lie for that student to represent the school and be homosexual.
They were right to offer counseling and right to expel him when he declined.

Only one side of the story.

The teacher should have asked him only about his activities, and advised or shaped regulation. Form follows function.

taking this young man at his word, that he was expelled for being homosexual, then I do think a diservice was done to him....
IF he wasn't loud or obnoxious about his homosexuality, IF he was otherwise a good student, and IF he was not trying to have homosexual dates thru school, then I think the better part of discretion would be to let the boy finish HS....
afterall, God hates the sin, not the sinner, and to be homosexual is not sinful, only the practicing of it, to my understanding.....

I agree. They were wrong to expel him and will now probably pay the price. The school's actions were unChristian and unwise.

There is no doubt that this is a set-up.

ASSUMING (for the moment) that the facts as alledged are true, I would not have expelled a non-advocating, non-practicing person, though I would have put him on notice to keep his mouth shut about it if he wanted to stay and I would have offered the counseling.
But, I do think they were entitled to act as they felt accorded with their faith.
All that said:
". . . eventually finding a psychiatrist who helped him accept his sexuality . . ."
Here is the real problem (assuming it wasn't a set up from the start).
If all that is aledged is true the first thing it proves to me is that - once again - when you play with fire by encouraging homosexual tendencies in your own life or ayone else's then it ends up hurting everyone.
Oh, and I agree with the previously stated question: Where's Dad?

afterall, God hates the sin, not the sinner, and to be homosexual is not sinful, only the practicing of it, to my understanding..... To confess one's sin as sin and to be struggling for liberation from a besetting sin is one thing but to say a sin is fine and good and not repent of it is another. One cannot be a Christian and embrace sin.

The poor kid was probably seduced by an older woman, who happened to be his public school teacher, at an early age-turned him as queer as a three dollar bill.
Whee!

Socrates is a man.
Therefore all men are Socrates....
