KNBC, KCAL and KTTV in Los Angeles have broken away from scheduled programing to report on a new fire in Waterman Canyon in San Bernardino. Several homes have been consumed by flames and many more are in danger of being destroyed.

It's said that California does have four seasons... floods, fires, earthquakes, and rioting. Thankfully not all at the same time, usually.

Is Webb a private school? I went the Webb School in Knoxville, Tennessee, it was suppose to have a sister school in California.

Never mind, it is obvious that it is private. I guess what I am asking is it the sister school of the one in Knoxville?

I'm not sure if the Webb School in Tenn is a sister school or not. I attended the one in Claremont, CA until '78 and it was boys only until about '80. Now, they have the Vivian Webb School for girls (and shared classes), so it's possible they are sister/brother schools?

Dr. Tom Bonnickson, a forest archaeologist, specifically warned Congress about this very forest: "Never have I seen anything more dangerous than the overgrown, beetle-ravaged forests of the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains. I am concerned for the safety of people living in communities surrounded by these forests.

I know exactly where that shot was taken. East Big Bear Valley, and it was actually taken just west of the dry, Baldwin Lake......

What's Bennys screen name? I'd like to FR mail him....

I knew quite a few people when I was in high school who went to Webb school... but all of them are male, so I'm not entirely certain whether it's a mixed school now. It wouldn't surprise me, however.

Here's another update for you: while some of the outlying vegetation was scorched, and while Webb Canyon is still locked off from people entering, it appears that the Webb School is intact and safe at this point in time. The houses that were up above it, however... well, there really aren't many of those left.

Thanks, mhking. This thread is getting too long for anyone who wants new info, I guess. Last I heard on KNX news, the Simi Valley fire is burning away from Simi Valley.

Thank God for answered prayers! Actually been praying for all in SoCal, but especially for those in Simi. We're planning on moving back as soon as feasible -- soon -- been gone too long (5 years).

Again, Thank You Lord, for your protection of family and friends!

Monday, 10:15 a.m., in downtown San Diego it might as well be 10:15 p.m.

Having lived in SoCal a majority of my life and in San Diego for almost 30 years, I have never experienced fires like these: 11 confirmed deaths in the County, 160 homes in the City destroyed (probably at least that many in the County), most schools (including the University of California) and government offices closed, along with many businesses. The good news is that, at least here by San Diego Bay, there is virtually no wind today.

For a fire that is burning up all of San Diego if you believe yesterday's thread, 650 homes is not much...

She could not leave in her car? That is absolutely unjust.

It sounds bad out there.

"And WHEN they find out who did this....I hope THEY burn. Yep. I do. "

Share your desire for Justice here but the truth is that just the magnitude of this disaster warrants even more than Justice can possibly serve - in one lifetime.

Heard earlier at least fourteen different fires were burning; and they suspected arson for much of this.

So the question may be arson or terrorism;in the meantime, every Environmentalist who has fought against the reasoned/sane approach to taking care of these forests, and the California environment should be held accountable . . .or shot.

People are losing their lives and homes; and we are losing the West on account of these 'Green Fools'; not to mention the Wildlife. Tragic and pathetic.
