Update to Myers/Little League report: that's the Kendall exit off the 215 fwy, near Glen Helen Park.

I've got a good buddy who lives near Little LEague, I'm sure him and the kids are enjoying the late night campout

I should've been asleep long, long ago... especially since I work at 10am. But with the glow on the horizon, I just can't seem to get myself sleepy...

But the worst of the winds is supposed to be over by midday. I hope so!
They won't fly the aircraft if it's too windy. Besides the danger of flying in those conditions, fire retardant drops won't be as effective, according to that lady.

me too, I've been watchign the Waterman fire burn closer since 6 pm

I hope the winds die down
On the western front, the fire is now pushing down into Webb Canyon. There's an erratic wind shift that's pushing it along. Strike team is at Baseline & Live Oak.
We were just in that canyon a little while ago. There's a boys' home there; chances are that it's being evacuated right about now.
In the Valley View park area, the fire's making a little run towards some nearby structures.

wow, I work near there.

I was there... uhh... about an hour and a half ago. The fire was /nowhere/ near there at that point; it was more easterly, in the vicinity of eastern Claremont. That might give you an idea how fast this fire's moving westward.
Durnit, I'm not in the mood to be evacuated. Our only saving grace where we're at is that there was a big fire last year, so there isn't as much dry brush... but that's only true on the peaks. The foothills haven't burned recently.

header from Gran Prix fire taken by Benny from Big Bear
Just went out and did a visual outside. The fire up high on the peaks, up above La Verne area, flared up well for a few minutes then died down. We're getting big ash now; dime-sized or smaller, for the most part, but still big ashes. The temp's somewhere in the high 70's/low 80's, and the glow's dropped a bit, which'd fit very well into the Webb Canyon report if it's going down into the canyon.

Bump for California Freepers and residents. It's not looking good at all. Be safe.

I certainly intend to. :)
Just heard the word "Glendora" in a rather mangled scanner report, though, so let's say that I'm hoping it's a road in San Bernardino and not fire spreading to my hills.

Unsure of location, but I just heard a report that was an advisory of approximately 30 goats in a fire strike zone. The person stated that they might be unable to assist, but noted it in case it was possible.

Scanner report: One of the strike teams has a few injuries. I did not hear the extent of the injuries, just that they've occurred.
