There is one similarity between the Vietnam War and the War on Terrorism... the lefties killed the American war effort in Vietnam (which was a completely winnable and just war, until politics entered the mix) and the lefties are trying again to kill our efforts... The socialist left of the world hate America and will do anything to weaken our position of power. Yes they definitely would be opposing this effort... they note similarities that don't exist because the negative recollection of Vietnam (that was put in place by the left in the media) will lend sympathy to their current anti-America push.... and, yeah ...Shoot'em and let God sort'em out!! But since the USSR and Pol Pot gave communism such a bad reputation, they try to hide the fact that they are pushing communism from the masses. If the masses ever figured out they are being pushed into communism, they may hesitate, and then the communist elites in the democratic party will be outed. Because ANSWER and MOVEON actively recruit out of high school. The MOVEON people took over the PTA at a local high school last year and were recruiting people at the PTA meeing to go to a "teach in" in sacramento ostensibley about raising taxes to fund schools. It was creeeeeeeeppppppyyyy!

Public apathy and ignorance are stunning. How many people that you know actually realize what communism is and what it has wrought?

It depends. Most of the parents sending their kids to the high school never look at the curriculum. If they did they would see it is peppered with anti-american pro-communist propoganda. Case in point, the so-called history text " a people's history of the United States" by howard zinn, the communist propoganda move "salt of the earth" are both part of the junior year history curriculum which makes no bones about being the "progressive" history of the United States.A least one teacher, registered in the green party, is an active communist and edits the local communist rag newpsaper, Alert!
