Approx 152 residants x $850 to $1,450 x 12 months, medicare reimbursment (5 house Dr's). No residant cash, check, credit card, car, furniture, jewelry, too much or...too small for them. Oh...clothing, coats (you get it:-) Think that trust is safe? Need a health care advance director? All this and more in an Independant Care Facility.
A typical day (out of many months) I did witness (not good for my health) a "right to die" 59yo M out of control mental patient...I mean resident exploding from 5 HALIDOL administered (w/in first 20min of aids shift change) by uc aid per phone order..."to calm him down". Oh, oh...looks like he had his Halidol from the last shift uc aid right before she left. No Dr no nurse any where w/phone order..DNR. Whole deal over, residant in the morgue by 9P.
Early yet...time to check out the moaning, pleading for help I've been hearing on the way to my guest room, for the past 2 days (off and on). "oh..you hear Mrs*****up in 3**. She moans all the time."
Long story short: If I hadn't been wandering down the halls and ran across a parcialy open door, hearing comotion with aid/Mr Halidol...I'd have missed this same aid setting Mrs*****'s broken hip via phone instruction (love those speakerphones). That was of course after she (was told/phone order) to "pick her up off the floor...put her on the bed, etc". All done by 1 scared aid and a phone. Me...stood in total shock in the hallway, wide open door, knucles bitten/bleeding to keep from screaming.
Scared aid; only that she would lose her 5.25 per hr job if anyone found out she left Mr Halidol's door open/unlocked when she went in to treat him. A promise, knowledge of only 1 other person working the desk (1st flr) going to the 3rd flr w/me in tow...no problem.
This all true. And 8 months more hell straight through the hospitol and on to the nursing home. Names, dates, times + events all recorded/documented.
Are all 3 institutions still thriving? You bet. Why? No matter how far and wide you go...all doors close. Why? "messing up a billion dollar money bag will get you killed".
IMO...M Schiavo thru/with Felos bought a 'limited partnership' share of a multi billion dollar death mill. With Terri's $700,000 trust fund.
Well, I seen this office take over and ruin a senior's life personally. Granted her caregiver was taking advantage of her finances and they were initially appointed to handle her financial affairs.
Then they realised she had a very healthy pension, her and her spouse's (no children), also she has very valuable real estate. She begged me to intervene when they began to say she was mentally incompetent. Her only disability was hard of hearing and speaking four languages. At 87 the State themselves reissued her driver's license and she took the driving exam.
But the Public Guardian's office decided otherwise, even after five doctors disagreed with them. She cried to me, she was so very bright, alert and active. She cried she left Germany 50 years before because of the gestapo. She feared the way things started going they would whisk her off in the dead of night just like the gestapo.
At first they had homecare worker's coming to her house. Then she all of a sudden developed Abdominal cancer and because of her hysterics over abuse and theft from these homecare worker's, yes one good one from Poland was willing to testify to this woman's sanity and good health, but they fired her.
In the interim I plead her case to a very powerful alderman, a Daley schill to no avail. I got a lawyer involved whose mother happened to come from the very same village in Germany. He was the only lawyer willing to fight the Public Guardian, no one would. Several lawyers said they play too dirty and are unbeatable.
I was allowed no contact with her, being I was not family. And was marked as an instigator with the PG's office. I was threatened with arrest because one night she herself called the police on a careworker's (live-in by then) abuse. At 3AM she came crying to me and I held her poor shaking body.
I saw this lady who fled for freedom and her and her husband worked 40 years paying taxes in this country, go from a vibrant woman with more energy and nohow than I could ever have. I saw her reduced to a nervous wreck created by the PG's people who couldn't sleep.
Well, she was right John, they did come and steal her in the middle of the night, the Cook County Public Guardian reduced her to just a name on the mailbox.
I had pondered the possibility of something along those lines, and it seems like with Michael in the insurance scam business he might be afforded an even more lucrative sideline, with the help of Felos. No matter, I have been convinced for some time that there is much more here than meets the eye and Schiavo and Felos, and others, have a vested interest in making sure it never does.
