Might as well bring in the smokers too. :)

Guess we'll find out if someone attempts to use it against me in some future lawsuit. Hey, this is a big board with thousands of people from the general public posting thousands of posts every day. We make no attempt to vet the posters and absolutely no attempt to read each and every post much less to research them for libel, slander, etc. That would be impossible. And the moderators are all volunteers and only fill in when they can. There's no way we can see everything. We do not guarantee that every post that should be pulled is pulled. None of us spend much time reading the threads. As moderators, we usually only react to abuse reports, and even then we don't get to all of them or act on all of them. Some of these reports come in on threads or series of threads containing thousands of posts with many interlocking and overlapping long-running feuds amd dozens or even hundreds of warring posters with constantly changing alliances and contradictory opinions fading in and out. Way too much for me to keep track of. Sorry, we are not a court of law and we are not an investigative agency and we are not all seeing, all knowing miracle workers. All we can do is try to keep the worst of it out and the worst of the trolls and violent posters out.

Hmm. I am a Catholic Christian who believes that God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to take billions of years to create Man in His image Uh-oh, now you've gone and done it.
What does that make me?
A Godless Papist Heathen Socialist Stalinist Secular Humanist Statist Clinton-Lover who probably molests lawn gnomes. :-)

It contributed to a hothouse atmosphere, and was used to put the pressure on the legislators and Jeb, without regard to evidence.AHHHH. I finally see why you appear to be threatening folks on this forum for expressing what they believe to be true. You are upset because the serfs were actually able to impact policy at the state level in Florida. It all makes sense now.
All,
This thread appears to be the result of what happens when Chancellor Palpatine (CP) feels that the almighty power of the state might be threatened in some small way. It horrifies him to think that you lowly peopns might be able to have some influence with the government which does so much in your name. In all the time I've seen CP here on Free Republic, I have never observed him (it?) to take a stand that didn't support government action no matter how heinous those actions might be.

I am very curious now Chancellor. Was this post today spontaneous? Or are you familiar with something that is going on?
Is this in reference to the Schiavo events?

Enough butter to cause a heart attack for someone who doesn't have my immunity from fat and colesterol./i> I just bought two pounds of butter this morning and 4 lbs of real popcorn (yellow), not that microwave stuff. I'll use a stick or so on each bowl, but that may be too restrained for you. I could call my #5 sister who made a concoction my Dad called "popcorn butter soup." When she makes popcorn, she REALLY makes popcorn.
I'm so lucky to live in America's Dairyland.

You ever seen a Tabitha Soren thread? You could post something on a local dispute over trash collection, and up she'd pop with a really emphatic anti-abortion screed somewhere in the middle. I never could figure out if that one was just funnin', or whether they were serious.
To: lugsoul
Uh, no.
I'd like to actually understand the frickin' answer.

And the Microsoft-Unix-Mac heads.
I've heard legends about a thread like this a while ago, my understanding is that many zubs and zuls knew what it was to be roasted in the flames on that day (ie, lots of people got banned).

I just couldn't stay out of the fray.
It says opinions.
It may say that, but that doesn't save a post that is clearly an assertion of fact. Such a post might hypothetically be, e.g., "I know for a fact that Michael Schiavo has lied about abusing Terri Schiavo." By making that hypothetical post a poster would be making an assertion of fact.
It would be up to the courts to prove otherwise.
Actually it would be up the plaintiff in such a suit to prove libel.

I don't know about you, but I would rather buy Christmas presents for my children then cough up the cash to defend myself against the ACLU and Felos. Same here, but the bottom of EVERY page says all posts are opinions. EVERY page. EVERY FREEPER can see it, and feel confortable enough to express themselves.
It says ALL POSTS are opinions.

On the "how many freepers does it take to change a light bulb thread," someone did an on target parody of f.Christian. I laughed so hard that I was on the verge of choking--and completely lost it when CP did his parody of LP.

Not to be picky, but the disclaimer you post does say that
opinions posted here are the opinion of the poster and not FR. It does NOT say [clearly or otherwise] that every post is an
opinion. Nor is this consistent with the law.
For example, a person can be liable for defamation if he/she republishes a defamatory statement. For example, if a magazine publishes a defamatory article, and you post it here, you can be just as liable as the magazine. It doesn't really matter how you want to construe the language on the home page.
