Wal-Mart Executives To Be Subpoenaed For Federal Grand Jury -ABC
Thursday, October 23, 2003 07:03 PM ET
NEW YORK
-(Dow Jones)- U.S. authorities were preparing Thursday to subpoena executives of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT, news) to testify before a federal grand jury in connection with an illegal immigration crackdown, ABC News reported.
Federal agents raided Wal-Mart's headquarters and 60 of its stores across the country Thursday, arresting more than 300 illegal workers at the world's biggest retailer.
The workers were members of cleaning crews hired by outside contractors, but federal law enforcement officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the Associated Press that Wal-Mart had direct knowledge of the immigration violations. They cited recordings of meetings and conversations among Wal-Mart executives, managers and contractors.
All those arrested in the raids at stores in 21 states were in the country illegally. Many of those arrested are said to be from Eastern Europe.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!??!?!??!
They nab 500 of these people in one chicken plant or carpet raid here in Georgia. These people want to tank our economy PURE and simple. Oh and I guess there is no coincidence here. Grocery workers in Calif go on strike because their wage increases get scaled back due to new super walmarts competeting with the chains. A week later Walmart is hauled before congress. Sure -- go ahead tank the largest retail power in America.

Our government does nothing about illegals. What's the real story behind this?
To: libertyisnotfree
Blame it on Walmart, but it's the Government's fault they're here in the first place. Talk about hypocrisy!

Previous threads criticized knocking American #1 Walmart as a tie to illegal aliens.
Check out lower California Walmart stores.....
Hillary was on the Board of Directors at Walmart.
Still has mega interests in Walmart.
Go figure.
Go John Ashcroft go!

arresting more than 300 illegal workers at the world's biggest retailer. What a joke. They could net more than that in my neighborhood alone when they set up a matricular card distribution site.
To: Naspino
Exactly.
How many other companies will they go after in the next few days? ZERO.
This is no comprehensive new strategy. It is a one time hit.
Wal Mart was also an easy mark because the illegals are from Europe. Thus, off the protected by melanin list.

...300 illegals out of a work force of more than 1,000,000?
Somebody else can do the math but I already know that aint a very high percentage.
To: GeronL
the immigrants will be let go 'till trial' and never be seen again.I'm sure they got the illegals 'name' and 'address'. Bwahahaha.

Dont fool yourself, this is an
AFL-CIO influenced operation. There are apparently a bunch of Klinton leftovers in the Justice Dept.
The union thugs have been out to get Walmart for years.
In almost any American city, they could have gone after restaurant workers, or hotel workers or any manual trade, but instead they go after Walmart. Wonder why?

Blame it on Walmart, but it's the Government's fault they're here in the first place. Talk about hypocrisy! But without the lure of jobs and other ways to have a living here, they wouldn't be coming over illegally. How many honest businesses following rules, hiring American citizens has Walmart run out of business? Why should a criminal corporation have unfair advantage over a law-abiding corporation?

They cited recordings of meetings and conversations among Wal-Mart executives, managers and contractors. Even if it's AFL-CIO inspired ----- which I highly doubt --- it seems Walmart was doing this blatantly and there is hard evidence. Don't forget the AFL-CIO was out organizing "Freedom Rides" for illegals, the unions are pro-illegal immigration.

Wal-Mart is truely a global company. It hires immigrants from all over the world, sells products made in just about every country of the world , pays its workers the prevailing wage of the world market, but collects its cash from US citizens.

The AFL-CIO has been courting illegals as potential members. I doubt they had anything to do with this. I only wish they did- someone needs to pressure the government to enforce immigration law.

Maybe we should leave the illegals but deport the Walmart executives. A good place for them to live would be China.
