Donate Your Unused Miles to the Troops

The following airlines offer domestic flights out of BWI:

Airlines that have Joined Operation Hero Miles

Delta Airlines

Delta Airlines has donated 10 million miles to jump start Operation Hero Miles, enough for up to 400 round trip tickets.

To donate your Delta SkyMiles, send the following information:

  1. Your SkyMiles account number
  2. Your name, address and phone number
  3. The amount of miles to be donated, and
  4. A request to have your miles donated to "SkyMiles for Heroes"

You may send your donation request via:

  • Fax to 404-773-1945
  • Mail to: Delta Air Lines Inc., SkyMiles Service Center, Dept. 654, P.O. Box 20532, Atlanta, Ga. 30320-2532.
  • Email to delta.bigs@delta.com (Delta's email is temporarily not working)

Southwest Airlines

Rapid Rewards members may donate free tickets they have earned in Southwest Rewards. Partial credits may not be donated.

Award Tickets must be valid for at least two months. No tax or credit information will be given to the Rapid Rewards Member by Southwest Airlines. Rapid Rewards Members' names and personal information will be uncensored from the Award Ticket.

Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) is challenging these airlines to follow Delta's lead and start "Operation Hero Miles" programs of their own for American soldiers returning from Iraq.
