Gov. Jeb Bush expressed alarm Tuesday over the growing crisis in Broward County's elections office and refused to rule out the possibility that he might try to wrest control from Elections Supervisor Miriam Oliphant.

Bush acknowledged that his legal team is again reviewing what authority he has to intervene and ensure fair and accurate elections. He said the state's top election official, Secretary of State Glenda Hood, will brief him Friday about the findings of a task force she sent to Broward to evaluate Oliphant's wherewithal to oversee a series of votes that culminate in next year's presidential election cycle.

The state constitution allows Bush to remove Oliphant for "malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties or commission of a felony."

Or all of the above?

no she is really really incompetent. The only reason she has held onto this job is because of her race. She has played the race card and up till recently she has been backed up by race mongers at the NAACP.

The democrat county commicisoners want her gone. Racial politics hinder this.

There are some pretty incompetent people in office in America today. But if I had to pick one that was the worst of the worst, i would have to go with Miriam Oliphant.

I would be hard pressed to come up with someone more incompetent than she.

I would trust Maxine Waters in a position of power before her!

Well .. I don't think the dems can make that stick because it was this district (run by a democrat) which caused the most problems in the 2000 election.

Oliphant is continually in the Florida media for new and ever varied increasing incompetance. Whether she is bankrupting her office or hiring family members or just plain stinks at her job, it is amazing at the wealth of stories about her.

Every one that comes out you think, well, they have to get rid of her now, but they never do. It is like a visual representation of liberal ideology, that excellence is not to be sought in achievement, but rather a mediocrity as long as it is fills some ideological requirement.

And I hate to say it, but unless you are a Democrat party hack, everyone who hears the story knows it is because she is black in a heavily democrat area.

It is watching messes like Oliphant that change people to Republican. I say we put her and Gray Davis on our next poster.
