No reason that Walmart can't stipulate to their subcontractors that they use legal workers.
Yes, I do hold Walmart responsible for anyone working in their stores and my letter to them is already on the way.
This isn't their first time. There was a story some months back about Walmart and illegal construction workers.
They have to take responsibility for the workers on their property.

No reason that Walmart can't stipulate to their subcontractors You're correct, there's not reason they can't. Perhaps they should also lists the other laws they expect their subcontractors to obey, the list really couldn't be that long, right?
Now suppose they stipulate no illegal workers and the subcontractors decide to ignore that part of the contract. We would still see the same headline about Wal*Mart and illegal workers. Sure, Wal*Mart could sue, but what would be the point?

Sorry, but you're wrong.
Wal-Mart can, and frequently is, held liable for the illegal or negligent actions of their associates. Their business partners, on the other hand, do not transfer liability to Wal-Mart.
See my post at about 185 on the other thread.

When contracting with somebody there's an assumption they're doing things legally.
