The Yankees may not get a chance that good again. If the Marlins don't score here, at least the top of the order comes up again. Oh, no, Jeff Weaver. If I were religious I'd be making the sign of the cross right now. Didn't all of us know the Yankees weren't going to win this game once Weaver came in?
To: F16Fighter
And for that matter, what was Weaver even doing on the roster?? NITWIT!! At least Mariano will be rested tomorrow. But I think Joe would rather have won this game than have a fully rested Mo. I just hope the Yankees can beat Penny this time.

I am a Boston fan! Sorry your sorry ass state doesn't have a real team. I root for the Yankees because they deserve to be rooted for.

Aaron Boone killed us. Giambi and Soriano were big ZEROs. Jeff Weaver is going to make Joe Torre look like a goof-ball for: A) Have him on the roster...B) Having to actually use him.
To: F16Fighter
Just a bump in the road on the way to the Bronx and a new banner in center field to keep the ghosts company.

I count three walk-off home runs this postseason. Trot Nixon vs. Oakland, Boone vs. Boston, and now Alex Gonzalez vs. New York. Have I missed any? I wonder if that's a record for a postseason. That's one walkoff for each round.

Glad the game ended this way... Fish Won, but Roger Clemens didn't have to end his career with a loss to his name.

Clemens is a great player. I've known that since he was with my Texas Longhorns. Hook em!

I was expecting the Yankees to lose anyway. The Ruben Sierra triple just got Roger off the hook, which is good. Who knows? Maybe he gets a win in relief in Game 7 (if it goes that far)?

Anything can happen, bro. Penny could very well shut the anemic Yanks down. Remember, Soriano, Giambi, and Boone are Black Holes in this lineup regardless of even a Jeff Weaver pitching to them.
To: jwalsh07
Hey John, anything can happen. Matsui, Jeter, and Bernie can't continue to carry this entire lineup. They're getting NO help.

A FReeper friend of mine (Yankees fan) called me this morning to gloat about last night's game.
"The hook is in the mouth"--he said.
I was involved in a work-related meeting and did not have time to respond, but I would have told him that anyone who goes fishing for Marlin knows that getting the hook in their mouth only signals the start of the fight.

Clemens wouldn't have lost regardless of the outcome once the Yanks tied the score...
I don't mind getting beat, but having Weaver pitch in ANY game is unfair to the team AND the fans.

We are back in bizness
To: F16Fighter
Yeah I know, but I've seen them do it time and time again. Those three guys, Petit, and Rivera are the heart and soul of the team.
They carry it until one of the armpits gets lucky and does something good.
At least, thats my plan. :-}
To: NYCVirago
Can you believe the way we lost this?? Black Holes Boone, Giambi, Soriano...and of course WEAVER....
To: Luis Gonzalez; StriperSniper
Not to mention that hookups are a dime a dozen. Landing a marlin is a whole other matter.
Insert fishing metaphors here.

I know... I wanted the Marlins to win, but didn't want Clemens to have a loss to his name, so the outcome was perfect from this fan's standpoint.
And just who was complainin' about the Yankees vs Marlins World Series? It has been great so far.
