Man -- you missed the 9th inning comeback??
Well, you also missed Boone failing to drive in Sierra from 3rd that inning w/2 out, and Boone failing to hit even a sac fly with the bags full in the 11th.
IOW, the Yanks may have blown this game.

If there was any place I would retire to, it would be the Keys...For a while. But like any TT (tourist trap), it can get tiring if you live there. I liked the Middle Keys--it's far enough away from both Key West & Miami, but we noticed it was getting overrun with tourists, a lot of the old places being torn down for mansions, stuff like that. Marathon has gotten more hostile towards sailors--unless one owns one of those huge plastic yachts & keeps it docked permanently.
When we move south (in our sailboat), we'll stay in the Gulf Shores/Pensacola area for a while until the boat's fitted out for sailing, then meander.

Consider that he had 40+ home runs, but a relatively paltry 107 RBI. Yep, and consider that Matsui had only three less RBIs with only 16 homers. That's 25 less than Giambi had I believe. You take away 25 homers from Giambi and he's hitting less than 80 RBIs.

Weaver. Torre knew this game was lost.

All academic now...

Stupid (batting) coaching to let the other team take advantage of 1/2 field - getting covered by 100% of the defensive players.

dpressing? yankees haven't won enough for ya? :)
To: Burkeman1
I knew Torre was pressing his luck with Weaver.
To: jwalsh07
How was Joe Torre supposed to believe Weaver was going to pitch more than 1 scoreless inning??
And for that matter, what was Weaver even doing on the roster?? NITWIT!!
To: F16Fighter
Weaver was a star though...well, with the Tigers he was....

If Enrique had batted, and driven in the goahead run, the Yankees would be up 3-1 in this series. I guess tomorrow is the key game in the series now. At least people will quit bitching about how dull the series is. It is dull no longer.

That's the emotional moment the Marlins needed for this World Series. I'd have to say momentum is on their side now. That's what's so brilliant about a walk-off homer, the other team doesn't get a chance to respond until the next day.
