BTW, nice call on the predicted double by Sierra, even though it was a triple ;-) Yeah, I'll take being wrong like that every time! Though it might have been a double if played better by Cabrera.

Is she really??

Should they go to Mo, or Contreras? If Torre goes with Mo, he is really rolling the dice. This game could go 38 innings. You save Mo for the bottom half of an inning once you get the lead.

Yes. I believe 1998, but I'm not certain of the year, only the month.

"I'll take being wrong like that every time! Though it might have been a double if played better by Cabrera."(Snort) And you call yourself a visionary??

Okay -- Then it is quite a coincidence.

I'm surprised it's Contreras... And if the game goes deep into extra innings- then what? You have to get a lead to protect before you bring out Rivera. If you squander him now and it goes four or five more innings- then what? What you want now is solid pitching. Someone who can throw strikes and preserve the tie. You can't go for the win until you are ahead.

You save Mo for the bottom half of an inning once you get the lead. Ordinarily I'd agree, but this is the World Series. Wins are much more precious here. At the very least you tire out the Marlins' bullpen while Mo pitches two shutout innings, even if the Marlins win anyway. Notice that Mo pitched three innings in a tie game in game 7 of the ALCS.

They really are the evil empire.
I don't a crap who wins this series, but the Yankees are just unnaturally evil.
The only plus side to their evilness is the unmitigated torture they inflict on Red Sox's fans - the most annoying group of people to ever trod the surface of the earth.

"You have to get a lead to protect before you bring out Rivera. If you squander him now and it goes four or five more innings- then what?"You're absolutely correct.

Sori keeps adding to that postseason strikeout record. If the record is ever broken, it will probably be broken by Sori. You have to work really hard to strike out that many times. Even pitchers make more contact.

Ordinarily I'd agree, but this is the World Series. And if you use your best pitcher now and the game goes five more innings you're left in a sitatuon where you no longer have your closer to actually preserve a lead as opposed to a tie.
This is the only call Torre could make.

What a drive by Flaherty -- yeah, nice running catch by Lucky Pierre....
HEY!! Jeter with another double (and the game winning run??)
To: F16Fighter
What a cut by Giambi. Too bad he whiffed it.

So why did he bring in Mariano in game 7 of the ALCS in a tie game? The only thing I can figure is that Torre doesn't consider this a must-win, since there are at least two more games, whereas game 7 ALCS was loser-goes-home.
