This is not a simple matter of allowing a person with significantly diminished brain capacity to die, this is a matter of why there are so many intertwined individuals who seem to have bet the house on NEEDING her to die.

This sounds so like a Robin Cook book. I know what I'm thinking is outlandish but this whole thing is beyond any reasoning. Exactly WHY are so many intertwined individuals needing her dead? Is there more going on at that hospice than we know? Could there be some organ blackmarketing going on? See, flame away, it's crazy but I don't know what else to think at this point. Could there be money on the table for a matching organ that's needed now and Terri's a match? Immediate cremation and who's to know.

Her organs wouldn't be useable, in my opinion, mtbopfuyn ~ those who have been looking into this a little more closely seem to think it's the new industry (really not so new) of euthanasia ~ Merchants of Death who wish to hasten the elderly along, and Florida is a prime target. Ethan Allen and Theodore R. have done extensive research ~ Hospice could be quite a lucrative business.

Not at all. The quite disturbing but possibly relevant scenario you paint cannot be discounted in this case. All the schiavo character has to do is divorce her and give custody of her to her parents. They take care of her (which they want to do) and he goes on with his miserable selfish life...MINUS the money and quite possible the organs.

Many grieving families neglect to ask important questions when their loved one dies (especially if he/she is younger). "Just exactly where did the organs go Nurse?" is not a typical question when the family is informed of the passing...

The booming business in the selling of organs is a scandal/accepted practice in most parts of the world - why wouldn't this practice be going on here?

Nah, no need to get the suit on.

You're right, this doesn't make sense in the 'real' world.

My thought is that the lawyer and the judge have so screwed this thing up -- the lawyer for money and for his pro-death agenda; the judge...well, I don't know why -- they have ignored information & witnesses that would have shown the need for more investigation into Terri's situation and level of awareness.

So now in THEIR best interests that Terri die and be cremated and her ashes spread at that out-of-state Schiavo place Michael has in mind.

Heaven forbid she should embarrass them all by recovering -- after all these years of being denied due process, rehabilitation, swallowing tests, TEETH BRUSHING for heaven's sake! And heaven forbid she be able to accuse Michael of abuse at any point.

What's really scary is to wonder how many others in the area need her to die quietly rather than recover and prove them wrong -- DCF among them.

I've been trying to dig up info myself via internet...what we need is boots on the ground with a camera to find these people meeting together outside the court.....

If you see this thread--end posts and work backwards...
here are a few....

Felos wants to write book about terri's case

Judge Greer is on Committee of Monitoring Guardianship yet dismissed 10 page report by GAL in 2000 at Felos request....

Felos connected with hospice

Why is medicaid paying for Terri, someone who is not certified
Terminally Ill to be kept in a hospice? When her husband drives a
recent model Mercedes, owns a home with a pool, has an insurance
corporation, and earns good income?

"Could there be some organ blackmarketing going on?"

You're not the first to suggest it.

"Could there be money on the table for a matching organ that's needed now and Terri's a match? Immediate cremation and who's to know."

Now, THAT would definitely add a new, sinister dimension to the story. Let's pray that it is just wild speculation. Given the leading characters though, I think nothing is morally beyond them. It is already known that Felos has a book in the works on Terri's story and is a big pro-death advocate who fancies himself with godlike powers, as per quotes posted from his previous book. Still, it is a bit too morbid to contemplate.....at this point. Besides, if there were toxicity in the organs from the dehydration process, wouldn't that render them useless to a potential recipient?
