Don't be silly. I was responding to the suggestion that her husband wants to kill her so he can collect the million dollars. My point is that there is no million dollars any more.

Nobody is killing anyone. The cycle of life must be allowed to continue. Terri has been preserved by a machine for a decade. It's time to let nature take its course.

She has expressed a desire to live; she was being murdered to cover up a crime.

"There is every reason to believe that Terri has no awareness of her surroundings."

You who wish to kill people like Terri have an interesting paradox to resolve. If Terri has no awareness, and she is not suffering, why kill her? There is always the chance she may recover to some extent at some time in the future, others have.

How a society deals with those least able to defend themselves speaks volumes about that society. For instance, in the case of abortion, we are not doing very well. I, for one, am glad to see that we are not so callous yet that a simple cost/benefit analysis is all that is required to condemn a person in Terri's condition to death just yet.

"There is nothing wrong with me. I have seen too many times patients being kept alive by machines and technology in an ICU to assuage a family member's feelings of guilt due to whatever inadequacy was present during the time when life was full. I have told my wife of 3 decades that if I'm ever in that state, let me go to heaven, and please try to live your life to the fullest. Miss me, mourn for me, don't forget about me, but do whatever you can to regain the happiness that we had together, even if (especially if) you find another to share your happiness with."

I beg to differ. I think you have become completely desentized from what you have seen. This woman doesn't have a terminal disease and is not hooked up to a machine.

By all means protect yourself and put your desires in a living will. Then there is no doubt about your wishes. There was NO living will present here. This womans injuries are questionable that caused this problem. The hubby is living with another woman and she is having HIS second child as we chat. Don't you also find it odd that when he was awarded Terri's money from a malpractice suit, the rehabiliation immediately stopped?

I don't believe in murdering people so the other can benefit financially and get on with their life. What's going on is not a guilt complex or not being able to let go. She apparently responds - other doctors have attested to that. If Terri did NOT want to live, she would have been dead long ago. She wants to live.

"Nobody knows for sure what relationship she had with her parents or husband, but both in law and in the Bible the spouse has priority over the wishes of the parents of an adult who can't speak for herself."

Oh come on. It's baltently clear what kind of relationship Terri has with her parents and the fact that she has NO relationship with her dear hubby. Geesh! Her dear hubby has already started another family. There are other conflicts of interest going on here as well.

Come on again - in "law" she is married to him in name only. Technically they haven't been man and wife for YEARS. He is an adulterer. If she could speak for herself she'd most likely divorce him. According to the Bible when a spouse is cheating on another that IS grounds for a divorce.

Speaking of the Bible it certainly does not advocate that a woman submit to this. It's a sin to murder someone as this husband is doing and a sin to commit adultry as this husband is doing and a sin. It is also true that one should honor their father and mother. Don't the wishes of Terri's parents matter at all when dear hubby wants to murder their daughter?

"Terri is gone. Her soul and spirit are already in heaven. If her husband mistreated her, investigate and punish him according to law, but don't torture her memory by preserving her biochemistry."

Terri hasn't gone anywhere. She is still in that body. Her soul and spirit are here on earth. Please give me a verse from the Bible that validates her soul and spirit are in heaven when she is still alive on this earth.

This phrase sums it up for me as to where you are coming from:

"... but don't torture her memory by preserving her biochemistry."

You don't see her as a person. Just biochemistry. This explains why you are cold hearted.

"... fact is,theres a cool million and he wants it...."

This creep is salivating for it. He's done everything he possibly can to get it - including trying to mudrer his wife with help from cold, corrupt doctors and lawyers.

"Right-to-die"? What kind of a right is that? Just where in the Constitution did the leftists find this new outrage

Surely, the Angels are singing! Good men and women have come to the aid of Life. God Bless You all for coming to Terri's aid.

It would be abhorrent to see an American judicial system that would discard innocents in such a barbaric fashion that only the world's most brutal despotic dictators would approve.

Her husband, meanwhile, was "deeply troubled, angry and saddened that his wife's wishes have become a political pingpong," said his attorney, George Felos. "He, as many others, is absolutely stunned at the course of events."

Her husband, meanwhile, was "deeply troubled, angry and saddened that his wife's wishes have become a political pingpong it turns out he might not be getting rich off his helpless wife's death after all," said his attorney, George Felos. "He, as many others, is absolutely stunned at the course of events."

There are no words to describe the foulness of this husband or attorney.

Until it is codified in law that a person can only be killed in this manner if they have left a signed and notarized living will stating that this should be done BEFORE the situation arises, and that oral statements made by others AFTER the fact are meaningless, none of us are safe.

I won't waste my time trying to explain constitutional law to emotional Jerry Springer rejects. This country has become one big ship of fools. That's my last word on the subject...now ya'll go on and celebrate...but know this...Terri will never be cognitive enough to celebrate with you. And the Terri that was married to Michael for all those years and conveyed her wishs to him and two other relatives beforehand not to let her live in this condition...might condemm these actions to circumvent her wishes.

Would anyone here really want to linger on in Terris condition? Unable to convey their wishes one way or the other? And rehab?...The Cerebral Cortex does not regenerate.

cerebral cortex: the "gray matter" of the brain; the center of conscious evaluation, planning,. skill, speech, and other higher mental activities.

And Terri no longer has one.

Nobody knows for sure what relationship she had with her parents or husband, but both in law and in the Bible the spouse has priority over the wishes of the parents of an adult who can't speak for herself.

"Spouse"?

The so-called "spouse" is living with his pregnant common-law wife with whom he has had one other child.

Unless Florida has legalized bigamy, there is a very good legal case for annuling his claimed spousal rights.

Why don't you go ask your wife if she would still consider you her husband if, while she was still alive, you got yourself a common-law wife and had two kids with that common-law wife.

Don't forget to point out to her that you believe that the Bible allows you to have two wives at the same time and allows you to have marital relations with and have children with the one who is healthier at the time.

Yep. They want us to think poor Terri Schiavo was in agony and just begging, BEGGING! to be left to die, and that big, bad, mean old Jeb Bush jammed the tube back in her arm (or whatever) and prolonged her mortal agony, dragging her back to the world of the living against her wishes.

BULL BUTTER!

Your response was so eloquent. The criteria being used to judge Terri as being undeserving of continued life could be used to deprive many of life. People with severe cerebral palsy, the mentally retarded, those with MS or muscular distrophy... the list is endless. To be totally crass and heartless, we could probably lower our taxes quite a bit if we just took a utilitarian attitude and starved ALL of those people to death. However, enough of us still have compassion for the less fortunate that this isn't being done. Yet.

Maybe with the light shining in the injustice that was almost done to Terri, our society is taking a step back UP the slippery slope. We can hope.
