Google "Nobel Prize nominee" -- there are an awful lot of mentions of these for them all to be phony.

All that is required to be nominated for a Nobel Prize is that one person with some particular qualification in some particular field (varies by prize type) nominate someone.

It should impart perhaps a little more prestige than being nominated for the Florida Recall Governor's race, but not much.

You are right, I've heard or read "nominee" numerous times in the last couple of months. But, thinking back, though I know people are nominated, names are never published in metropolitan newspapers in advance, are they?

Several years ago, three men won the Nobel Economics category, & split the prize money for their 40-year study of world economics. All three declared the system a game, such as playing poker or chess.

Two of the men were Americans, living in different areas of the United States, I believe, and the third was a European. I've never been able to find anything else on them - lost the news clipping & can't recall their names.
