Matsui and Jeter. That's about it lately.

Waddhya think? Lock for Rookie of the Year?

I can't stand Joe Buck - ever since his "homering" when the Giants beat the Cards last fall. He sounded like he was attending a funeral while the Giants were celebrating.
I have ESPN Radio on with Jon Miller and Joe "Dead Red" Morgan - much better. I love listening to Jon, and yeah, I'm biased, but he's still good.
Great clutch hitting by Matsui. Someone finally solved Dontrell.

What was McKeon thinking when he took Beckett out? Was he on a private hot-line with Grady Little?
To: fhayek
I think you're right. Mazilli is one of my all-time favorite Mets.

Waddhya think? Lock for Rookie of the Year? Based on the eligibility rules, probably. But they don't include postseason performance, last time I checked. I think the voting may be done right at the end of the regular season.

"Matsui and Jeter. That's about it lately."Might just be enough. That and the pitching.

Yep - Dontrell is the pride of Encinal High School in nearby Alameda. When I took my son to see the Giants vs the Marlins (the one game they won at Pac Bell), Dontrell was very chatty with the fans in the stands. Someone was hounding him a little, and he grinned and said, "No habla English!"

Matsui ain't no Rookie, but hey, if those are the rules....

What was McKeon thinking when he took Beckett out? Was he on a private hot-line with Grady Little? Beckett was unhittable, except for Jeter. It makes no sense.
To: fhayek
Matsui and Jeter are the only two carrying this team.
Let's see what Rivera will do.
Oh, Nick Johnson. Surprise, surprise.

Pitch count set the scene to pull Beckett.
I also think Lee should have hugged the line. For once I agree with unctious McCarver.

Well, that wasn't much.
Say hello to Mariano Rivera, Miami.

"Matsui ain't no Rookie, but hey, if those are the rules...."
Well, you can take several different perspectives on this. Sure, he isn't a typical rookie but playing in the Japan league is like playing at a triple A level so it isn't like he was honing his skills against major league talent for 5 or how many years before coming over.

Matsui ain't no Rookie, but hey, if those are the rules.... To anyone at FR who argues that the voters should ignore Matsui, I offer Election 2000 as Exhibit A. The Democrats wanted to abandon the Electoral College in favor of the popular vote, because it more properly reflected the 'will' or 'true spirit' of the people. You have to consider anyone eligible by the letter of the eligibility requirements, and if you want the requirements changed, work on changing them AFTER this year's awards are handed out. It's not Matsui's fault that he's technically a rookie.
