MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - Volunteers stacked sandbags on levees Tuesday as the Skagit River rose toward an expected major flood crest following the second torrential rainstorm in the Pacific Northwest in less than a week.
Flood warnings were posted along 11 rivers in western Washington. Record amounts of rain fell Monday on the region, where the ground already was saturated by a storm last Thursday blamed for one death, flooding, road washouts and mudslides. Two deaths were blamed on the earlier storm in neighboring British Columbia.

Mighty wet in the Northwest... Hope some of this heads South and drenches the West too this winter...

... A car and a van attempt to cross high water on State Highway 20, the North Cascades Highway, near Marblemount, Wash., Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, next to the Skagit River. Heavy rains in the past week have brought many rivers in Western Washington to flood stage. The highway was closed a few miles northeast of Marblemount. The car and van shown in this photo made it safely across the water. (AP Photo/Ted S. Warren)

We had a long dry summer. All the people griped about the sun and heat. Now we have record rain falls. Bremerton nearly 13 inches in 24 hours, Olympia about the same. Other up north even more. The Great North WET is washing into the Sound. Now the whiners are whining about all the rain. Can't make some liberals happy with anything!

We had a long dry summer. Still are in Eastern WA. 86 degrees and still heating up at 3:30 PM in Richland. It is causing unusual stress to landscape plants.
Hope it dries out over there.

Record rainfall? Must be caused by global warming. No, last year's draught was caused by global warming. I'm confused . . .

Wonder if some of this rain will stay around to greet the USC Trojans on Saturday.

"Now the whiners are whining about all the rain. Can't make some liberals happy with anything!" Maybe you all can bottle the stuff and sell it to us south of you for a buck a bottle. Haven't seen rain for months here.
