My opinion is that if the tube is re-inserted today, they will also be able to flood her with lactate's ringer IV in order to prevent her organs from shutting down completely. There is a chance that a mass of fluid into her system along with medications to override shock will be able to clean her system. She may need dialysis a few times. This doesn't mean she will need a transplant.

It's hard to believe they are letting time slip away while all of the legal wrangling is going on. We are truly living in a cold, heartless society.

I voted yes.

So did I...I just forgot to state that.

I agree. The mainstream media is reporting little and distorting much. Terrisfight.org is one of the best places for lots of information at one site.

Have observed the thread but have avoided taking a stance until now. After reading FReepers comments, I voted a "yes."

Life support and humane feeding are two separate issues.

The woman is not on life support, it is quite clear that her husband and his attorneys do not have her best interests at heart.

Refusing to feed a patient and condeming them to death by starvation over a period of two weeks is a disgracefully diabolically disgusting plan.

why don't you try to go thirsty for a couple days to see how humane the thought is?

Life is sacred, in America today life is disposable.

please read post number 10. They give interveneous fluids and morphine. The doctors told me it would be a painless death. It took 4 days for my father to die. It was humane and he died as he would've wanted.

I hope you never have to make this kind of decision. Don't judge those who have to watch a loved one die... it's apparent you don't understand the pain involved.

I don't think Terri Schiavo is getting intravenous fluids of any kind, her case is the only case I am discussing with you.

It's black and white. This is not a case of a plug being pulled, this is a case of murder.

I am not judging you or the decision you made with your father, I don't know what those circumstances were.

I still stand by my assertion that in this country the concept of the sanctity of life no longer exists in many places, the place where Terri Schiavo is, for example, is one such place.

He's destined to pull this poll and announce on his TV show that the results were "skewed" by a bunch of right-wingers. I voted "YES!"

Agree; it makes no sense; the picture however of this woman, offers it's own 'thousand words' on a degraded, amoral Liberal culture that has allowed this to happen and lowers us all as it sets a new low.

I'm sorry for your loss, I've lost family recently myself, and it is difficult to even discuss the issue.

Having to make unbearable decisions for one's loved ones makes things that much more difficult.

Life is sacred, the general media and elite in some aspects would have us believe otherwise.

Life, though drastically different for Terri Schiavo, as compared to how it had been, is still worth living.

Thanks for your kindness and understanding. You understand and I misunderstood the situation. There is no easy answer in this families sad case. I pray for her health and her (loving) family.

Yes --- a respirator which has a plug to pull is a different kind of situation ---- this case is only about a feeding tube and no extraordinary treatment. Even in respirator cases, the decision shouldn't be made by someone who inherits a lot of money if the plug gets pulled. And once someone has a lover on the side, they should no longer be the one deciding if the spouse must die.
