History is on Boykin's side.

All throughout American military history, from before the Civil War until now, it is replete with illustrations of great military commanders verbalizing their spirituality. Gen. MacArthur and Gen. Patton and multiple others called on God, prayed to God, gave God praise and glory for victories and called upon God to defeat their enemies. Not a single one of those military leaders ever was belittled, harassed or chastised for speaking out about their spirituality. --30--

While I do not share in the website's religion/spirituality, concurr with the article which is well written too.

So far, Rumsfeld and Gen Myers have expressed their most reasonable support.

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.

Give us strength, too -- strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.

And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention a prayer from way back in those Infidel Crusader times:

KING ARTHUR: "Brother Maynard, bring us the Holy Book of Armaments."

HIGH PRIEST: "Armaments Chapter One, verses nine through twenty-seven:"

BROTHER MAYNARD: "And Saint Attila raised the Holy Hand Grenade up on high saying, 'Oh Lord, Bless us this Holy Hand Grenade, and with it smash our enemies to tiny bits.' thanks for the pic. Am reminded of the General Orders that
Washington Issued to the Army that secured our Independence
as well (You can find them in Federers' "Americas' God and
County" under Wahington.Yep seems Gen Boykin exemplifies the Generals Orders and is in good company.
