Biography:
Judge Moore was appointed to the Middle District of Florida by President Ronald Reagan in 1981. He hails from Atlantic City, New Jersey, received his B.S. degree from Syracuse University and his JD degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Prior to attending law school he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, with active duty in the Korean Theater , and retired from the Reserve in 1971 at the rank of Commander. Judge Moore commenced his law practice with Fisher & Phillips in Atlanta, Georgia, became a partner in Fleming, OBryan and Fleming of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and finished his practice in the private sector with Turner, Shaw and Moore in Fort Lauderdale having served as the School Board attorney for Broward County, Florida. Judge Moore was appointed to the Circuit Court for the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida and was the Circuits chief judge from 1975 to 1977. He was appointed to the 4th District Court of Appeal in 1977. He served as chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida from 1992 to 1995 when he assumed senior status and has served on numerous law related committees, the last of which was the Judicial Resources Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States.
