Agents Stop Explosive Devices at Border
Border agents intercepted three people carrying explosive devices along with a gun and ammunition at a checkpoint near Las Cruces.
Tuesday, September 02, 2003 -- The purpose of the explosives and weaponry was not immediately known.
Agents identified them as 34-year-old Allen Riedel of Phoenix and two Sun City, Arizona, residents - 42-year-old Judy Green and 48-year-old Edward Fieldman.
Federal agents say all three have lengthy criminal histories.
Agents stopped the trio Sunday morning at the checkpoint and discovered the explosive devices while searching for contraband.
Bomb experts X-rayed the devices and decided it was not safe to move them. So Interstate 25 was closed to traffic while the devices were detonated in the desert nearby.

When I was a kid, I used to smuggle explosive devices across the border all the time...firecrackers.

Couldn't the reporter give us some kind of clue as to WHAT KIND of lengthy criminal histories they have? Kiting checks? Jaywalking? Blowing up banks?

Stopped at a checkpoint on I-25 in Las Cruces...??
How can New Mexico be so barbaric? Why, our enlightened Congress-Critter, Jim Kolbe (R-AZ), forced the Border Patrol to remove checkpoints on Cochise County Highways...said they were ineffective at stopping illegal immigrants and a waste of time for the BP agents manning them.
Wow. I'm flabbergasted...he was wrong?

Gee, won't it get more interesting when the Mexican trucks come rolling over the border? Bush wants them to, and soon. I wonder what will be in those trucks? The trucks will only be examined at random.
Homeland Security is an expensive joke on America. Bush's refusal to protect our borders since September 11 is eye-opening, to say the least.
I wonder how his meeting with Vicente went? The big issue is amnesty (or whatever they're calling it today). Expect an announcement next week. Bush doesn't care that 70% of America is against amnesty for illegal aliens, as long as he wants it, it will happen. We have elected King George.

NO!
Too bad!
