I am posting this message from Pinellas Park Florida concerning a matter of utmost urgency. At this very moment the state of Florida is committing a crime against humanity. A young woman named Terri Shiavo is being starved to death in Hospice care by order of the Florida courts. Terri suffered massive injuries several years ago which left her in severe physical condition and in need of major therapy. However, her husband has seen to it that Terri had no therapy or medical treatment, making it clear that his only wishes were for Terri to just hurry up and die. (lots of life insurance money involved) When he saw that Terri was going to fight for her life he began proceedings to have her euthanized
The mainstream media has lied about this case from word one saying that Terri is in a comma or a persistent vegetative state when she is actually very responsive to the attention and instructions given to her by others. The media has also stated that Terri is on life support which she is not
.The only way Terri is assisted is by a feeding tube. Her injuries have left her unable to chew or speak because she has been denied any type of rehabilitation. Terris husband is strongly suspected in this case. Nurses and countless others have filed affidavits with Floridas legal system stating that Terris husband is extremely abusive toward her and that he tried to kill her by giving her injections of pure insulin while she lay in the hospital. Yet, no criminal investigation has ever been carried out in this matter
.why? Because Terris husband received nearly one million dollars to pay for Terris rehabilitation, and it is strongly suspected that he owns the judge who is handling this case. On Wednesday Terris husband won his battle to have her murdered, and her feeding tube was removed from her body
She has had no food or liquids since 2 pm wed. I came to Florida to investigate this matter. I just couldnt believe that this could happen in America. But its all true and a helpless Terri Shiavo lies dying a horrible death while her parents and loved ones are kept from her side by armed guards. I have been standing vigil with Terris family for the past two days and I must say that this is the most horrifying thing I have ever witnessed. We need your help to get Terris story out before its too late. She only has a couple of days left. Our group has been in contact with Jeb Bush, who has the power to take executive action and stop this atrocity from occurring in his state. Jeb is obviously more worried about his political career than he is the life of one of his constituents
.Dont let Florida hide Terris story any longer
.Go to her web site www.terrisfight.org and get the facts. You will be alarmed at what you see. Please call president bush, Governor Bush, and any other government officials you can think of, but most of all help us to get the truth out. I have watched reporters from CNN, FOX, WGN, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC interview Terris family. They are filming and reporting the truth but it is never getting past the cutting room floor. Please call your local papers and radio stations
.We must get the truth out or this woman will be dead very soon. No one in Floridas courts or political system will even hear Teris case or her familys cries for justice. I guess its just not good politics to try and do the right thing anymore. Please help
. everything you do can make a difference
If the state of Florida can get away with murdering a helpless woman then the rest of us are fair game
PLEASE HELP. This is REAL and its happening right now.

One of the first signs of America's plunge from the moral leadership role in the world was when the people let the court system determine the viability of life, when it starts and when it is to end. They have assumed the position of God. Oh, how wrong. We must pray and work for a change back to the way it has been since 1776. Our founding fathers would be very disappointed that we have not guarded the moral backbone of our government. God bless Terri. She is one lamb on the alter of Liberalism.

Why does'nt the Florida State Police start an investigation!!! This would forestall this and nail that disgusting piece of garbage.

No kidding.
I've had a lot of sympathy for Terri, but recently I've found myself thinking more and more about the words of her husband.
If you look, I'm sure you can find which quote I'm referring to. It involves hurrying up...

It's the judge, not Jeb, that has control of this situation. Jeb is on our side. The judge, (most likely a liberal - appointed by a liberal) is the problem. Please address this issue to the person with the power to change it -- the judge.

Reading your article I was moved to comment. I live here in Holiday, fl. which is the first town you come to as you leave Pinnellas county heading north on US 19 or alt. 19. I have been following this story on the news and in the papers and have seen all the footage of terry that has been shown on local TV.
I am not one who is particularly comfortable with the idea of euthanasia or removing her feeding tube {as reguards this case}. I have to say though that all the footage of terry that I have seen shows a body that while capable of being propped up in a sitting position or rolling it's eyes around aimlessly while making mindless noises, it is my considered non-medical opinion that there is no one home and terry has long since vacated the premises.
This case is tragic and sad for all concerned but speaking as a husband who loves his wife dearly, I would not want to see my wife's body kept alive for 13 years in such a state. I sympathize with the parents though who cling to the hope that their daughter will one day wake up and say "Hi Mom and Dad, how tricks?", but I don't believe that day will ever come.
Terry's gone to a better place and I can't imagine her or anyone knowingly and conciously wishing to spend years and perhaps decades trapped in a non responsive, vegetating shell. Unable to communicate with the outside world.
As I said before, this case is painful for all concerned but prolonging this pain indefinately is the suest way of making this heartbreaking and tragic situation worse.

Several threads running about Terri have been started by people who joined within the last few months. Most of these threads have as much to do with bashing Jeb Bush as with saving Terri. Anyone else see this as odd?

"No one in Floridas courts or political system will even hear Teris case or her familys cries for justice."
This case has in fact been litigated for 6 years or more in a number of courts and before several judges.

Many of us have been great supporters of Jeb Bush. I know I am not bashing him. But I see no one at all with the power and the right and the authority to save this woman; with one exception: the Justice Department could step in, send in the marshals and a medical team.
Terri Schiavo's Fifth Amendment Rights are clearly being pounded into the dirt.
Someone is giving the Governor very bad legal and political advice, in my opinion. And that is not a bash.
I'm repeating almost verbatim the comments of one of Jeb's strongest supporters from the ground in FL tonight.

Please know everyone here has been doing all they can with their dedicated activism in trying to help Terri! It's like all the calls, writing just doesn't matter and we are all perplexed on why her husband keeps getting away with this?

Most of these threads have as much to do with bashing Jeb Bush as with saving Terri. Anyone else see this as odd? Yup. Either they are phonies or the usual bunch of conservatives who have death-wish/suicidal tendencies. ("I will never vote again for Jeb, even though he has been closer on most conservative issues than any Florida governor in recent memory."
To: GOPJ
Jebs bully pulpit has remained unused.
Is that a bash?
To: GOPJ
They finally aired Terri's story on local radio WBBM and they also said that Jeb could help

Unfortunately, I cannot issue an executive order when there is a court order upheld at every level in the judiciary. Mr. Shiavo is the legal guardian and I can't override that fact. I wish I could but I have no legal authority to do so.

Subject: ...question for you...
Can you use your authority to issue an Executive Order, to place her [Terri] in a different hospice that has no connection to her husband, as a temporary stop measure to [get] this woman back on feeding so that you have the time necessary to review whatever other options may exist for you, as this current situation with her removed from the tubes will result in an irrevocable situation?

This case is the opposite but the euthansia came up with Karen, cannot remember her first name. Was in a fetal position for many years and the Courts would 'not' allow her parents to let her get euthansia, they fought and fought, finally her respirator was stopped and despite that she kept going. I personally believe the soul leaves in these situations and I hope that is true for Terri ;(

Karen Ann Quinlan: The Beginning of the Right-to-Die Debate Mireille Deschamps
Karen Ann Quinlan was the first modern icon of the right-to-die debate. The 21-year-old Quinlan collapsed after drinking too much alcohol and taking in 0.6 miligram of aspirin and the tranquilizer Valium at a party in 1975. Doctors saved her life, but she suffered brain damage and lapsed into a "persistent vegetative state." Her family began a legal lawsuit for the right to remove her from life support machinery. They succeeded, but then Quinlan kept breathing after the respirator was unplugged. She remained in a comatose state for almost 10 years until she died in 1985 in New Jersey. Karen Ann Quinlan was the first modern icon of the right-to-die debate (Munson, 2000).
At the beginning of Karen Quinlans coma, her family was hopeful, but then Karens condition got worst. She began to lose weight and to contract into a fetal position, until her five-foot-two-inch frame became no longer than three feet. She breathed with a respirator that pumped air through a tube to her throat. Everyone began to think that this situation was hopeless. The family believed that this treatment was too much for them to handle and that Karen definitely would not want to be kept alive in this manner (Munson, 2000).
After three and a half months that Karen had been in a coma, the family decided to authorize the discontinuance of extraordinary procedures. The next day, the doctor decided that he would not take Karen off the respirator due to moral reasons. Since Karen was twenty-one years old, the Quinlans were no longer considered the legal guardians. The family was furious and decided to call their attorney. Mr. Quinlan believed that it was Gods will to take Karen off the respirator (Munson, 2000).
During this trial, Mr. Quinlan requested to be the legal guardian of Karen and thus would be authorized to discontinue Karens life. He claimed the right to privacy, which would enable individuals to terminate the use of medical measures, even when death may result. He also appealed the clause cruel and unusual punishment of the Eighth Amendment by stating that keeping Karen on the respirator against her will and her familys will was cruel. Although these were all good arguments, the judge decided to rule against Mr. Quinlan since Karen was still medically and legally alive (Munson, 2000).
Due to the judges decision, Mr. Quinlan decided to appeal this decision to the New Jersey Supreme Court. This time, the court agreed with Mr. Quinlans argument on the right to privacy and that whatever he decided for her should be accepted by society. This case also set aside criminal liability because death would not result from homicide since the respirator would only be removed. The court told Mr. Quinlan that the doctors at the hospital may remove the respirator. Once the respirator was removed, Karen was able to breathe without mechanical assistance. Due to this new finding, the Quinlans began to search for a chronic-care hospital, and finally a nursing home decided to take Karen under their care. Karen continued to breathe and was given nutrients and antibiotics to fight off infections. Then, she passed away at the age of thirty-one (Munson, 2000).
The main importance of the Quinlan movement is the expansion of the patients right to decline life-sustaining treatment. Also, it compels medical professionals to withdraw such treatment, if administered, and thus requires professional assistance for terminally ill individuals wishing to end their excruciating lives (Stevens, 1997).
Follow this link for more information on withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining medical treatment according to the American Medical Association.
