1980. Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton. It was their first (and only) World Series championship after 97 years of existence. So don't cry for Chicago and Boston.

Oh, I'm not saying you should stop. It just seems like we all ought to be on one thread. It doesn't matter to me which one it is or who started it ;-)

I agree. Who gives a rat's ass. Without the Red Sox or Cubs, Fox Sports is the real loser. No one cares except Yankee fans.

Does anyone have the link to the other live sportscast? It was somewhat better than Major League Baseball's.

I lived in Philly for a number of years. It was tough duty being a fan.

Phillies? When was that, 1980? They have the most hooligan looking crowd of players in the MLB. Their fans sucketh, as well. Can we say "fickle?" We don't have "lovable losers" in Philly. There's little tolerance for losers, period.
Perhaps it's a Philly-centric attitude, but why should perpetually losing be looked upon with anything other than disdain? It makes no sense to me.

No one cares except Yankee fans. That is absolutely untrue.
I know no one dislikes the Yankees any more than I do but I care. And I think most sports fans do.

Re your post #28, I agree. I'm not watching. I would be if either the Cubs or the Red Sox were in the series.
As for the Yankees, someone said that rooting for that team is the rough equivalent of rooting for General Motors.
To: Cathryn Crawford
Um, the Marlins Payroll (around $40 million once you back out the $7 million they are paying for the Brave's Mike Hampton) is around 1/4 that of the Yankees.
