I would think that litigation fears and regulations would prevent a person from doing something like Mother Theresa here. If someone opened such a facility some government paper pusher would come in to make sure everything was up to code and the second someone with any semblance of a family died that family would probably show up grieving and take the center the court. I never got the impression that Mother Theresas places were full of material wealth, just moral wealth. That isn't good enough for regulation-happy, lawsuit-happy Americans.
We don't get to do whatever we want no matter how generous and humane what we want to do may be.
