BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) today called the Democratic Leadership Council's joint weekend conference in Atlanta with the anti-gun Americans for Gun Safety "a fraud designed to fool gun owners into thinking that Democrats are truly interested in gun rights, when they are really pushing gun control disguised as gun safety."
The DLC and AGS conference is entitled "God, Guns and Guts: Seizing the Cultural Center." It is an effort, according to published reports, to portray the Democratic Party as more pro-gun. CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb's response was blunt: "Dream on."
On Friday AGS released a "7-Step Blueprint for Democrats to Promote Responsibility and Win the Gun Vote."
"Without inviting any true gun rights organizations to the table this weekend," Gottlieb stated, "the DLC continues to wrap itself in rhetoric. It's camouflage, and hunters know about camouflage. Camo is designed to conceal something from view, and in this case, what Democrats are trying to conceal is the same old gun control agenda they've had all along, by re-packaging it as something else."
CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron added, "Their own pollster, Mark Penn, who worked for Bill Clinton, has advised Democrats to change their message from 'gun control' to 'gun safety.' It may sound more appealing, but it's got the same old smell.
"By meeting with AGS," Waldron continued, "Democrats are trying to convince voters, and especially gun owners, that they are pro-gun. Look at the AGS record, and you find this organization has supported every gun control measure to come down the legislative pike since it was founded. They're not a gun rights organization. They're not even a gun safety organization. They're a gun control group, the proverbial wolf disguised in sheep's clothing."
"Until the Democrats sit down with true gun rights organizations and leaders," Gottlieb said, "their pronouncements about being pro-gun rights carry as much weight with gun owners as trying to establish what the definition of 'is' is."
With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation's premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

"They're a gun control group, the proverbial wolf disguised in sheep's clothing." Their masks will come off when they start pushing to renew the Assault Weapons Ban scheduled to sunset next year. On both sides of the aisle, for that matter.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1002857/posts Reposting my earlier post on this topic...
"If we appear to be hostile to individuals of faith, hostile to those who own guns, indifferent to the concerns of traditional families and weak on national security issues," Bayh said, "that is not a winning prescription for the Democratic Party."
Obviously, this Democratic message isn't for us, the true cultural center. It's for the people we work, live near and speak to that are sympathetic to our views.
In short, it's for those that think like us - but don't actually think.
You working class people - how many of us have heard the old saw 'I gotta vote my pocket-book' when justifying a vote for Democrats? I have - dozens of times from union workers that cannot defend their allegiance to the RAT's on any other basis. Point out the Left's theft taxation and they respond with gibberish or other mindless cliches about tax cuts for the rich. There are simply no historical sensibilities to argue from or defend - only what is 'perceived' in the moment. That's why emotionally loaded slogans are so effective.
And gun owners, how many fellow hunters (I'll omit most shooters since most of them are harder-core because they reload) have you heard saying stupid stuff like 'I don't see any reason why somebody needs an assault rifle with a 100 shot clip'? These people are the fodder for ridiculous slogans offered by the communist liars like the one I actually saw on the bumper of some moron's Chevy Suburban during the 2002 election - 'Sportsmen for Wellstone.' You gotta laugh at that magnitude of ignorance. Either that or run him off the road and beat him with a tire iron for criminal stupidity.
Oh yeah. Who's been paying close mind to the problems of the military vets lately? Putting it bluntly, the veterans have pretty good friends in the RAT party because the RAT's have figured out that hurting vets getting the run-around in the VA system are happy to have allies - even if those allies are wanting to give them socialized medical care. Wellstoned was a champion of this tactic.
What about religious folks? How many churches have been infiltrated with commie clergy? Blue-haired grandmothers sit in the same pews they've sat in since their first communion and listen to some sodomite claim the mantle of Christ when he just got out of bed with the alter boy. These people use the Bible with regular practice to justify the entire spectrum of Marxian dogma.
Oh, and did I forget the salt-of-the-earth middle Americans? What about those farm families and rural folks that carry our traditional ideals? They're certainly familiar with firearms and church suppers. Believe me, rafts of these people are inculcated with RAT populism from decades back and just waiting for some modern RAT to re-justify their faithfulness but stroking their middle-American sensibilities. Farm mortgage failures and isolation in declining rural economies has rendered many of these folks prey to the messages of the only informational source they have - the ABCBSNCNN news. What d'ya think the nancy-boys on the networks are feeding the folks back on the farm?
To be fair, many of these folks are often left bewildered by green-haired lesbians shouting 'Kill Republicans' that are running for their congressional seats on the Democratic endorsement - but what the heck, you gotta vote that pocket-book. Right? Unless, of course, there is a CLEAR difference in candidates. Unfortunately, pandering to metrosexual weenies and bleeding heart soccer moms have rendered most Republicans as amorphous and effeminate as most RAT's. In fact, the most ardent, forthright and in-your-face candidates ARE the green-haired lesbians.
So, don't dismiss this one too lightly people. Like Barnum once said: "There's a sucker born every minute." And that, my friends, was tens of millions of suckers ago.

When the DLC and all of its candidates stand up and tell America that if they are elected there will be absolutely no more Federal gun control bills, and that they will veto any such bill no matter who the author is, then I will listen. Not until. Period.

Likewise. On both sides of the aisle, I would add.

I find the present laws unacceptable, so I will wait until they propose to repeal the unConstitutional laws already on the books.

One step at a time, first things first, don't put the cart in front of the horse, can't squeeze blood from a stone, etc.
Maybe someday.
