President Bush and First Lady, Laura left California yesterday, and arrived at Tokyos Haneda airport (at around 3:00 am, Pacific time), where they were greeted by U.S. Ambassador Howard Baker. The President met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for talks on subjects such as international trade and the reconstruction of Iraq. The President and First Lady were dinner guests at the Akasaka State Guest House, where they dined on Japanese steak and Yakatori chicken, sitting on the floor, but were allowed to dangle their legs through a hole in the floor!
Japan is only the first stop in a whirlwind 9 day tour of 6 Asian countries and Australia, and including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday. There are LOTS of pictures, many of which could have been selected as the best, (and which I have tried to assemble in some sort of orderly fashion), so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

"she [Hillary Clinton] makes it look OK to stick with a spouse who REPEATEDLY breaks his vows and lies so blatantly about it!!! To me it gives women a bad name."
I don't want to be misinterpreted as being a fan of Hillary Clinton's -- I'm not -- but I really don't like to see language like this on a conservative site like Free Republic. I would like to say, saying things like this sounds to me like a general put-down of the many women who stay with husbands who commit all kinds of sins and wrongs, sexual and others, because they are committed to their vows and to the idea of MARRIAGE -- marriage for life. Marriage for life USED to be the doctrine of the Christian church, and still is the doctrine of conservative BIBLICAL churches, even when one of the spouses has committed evil acts. "What God has united, let no man put asunder."
As I say, I'm not defending Hillary, whom I disagree with politically. I don't know enough to speculate on her relations with her husband, so I won't do that. So I'll leave Hillary out of it.
My problem is that a generalization that it "looks bad" when a woman stays with an erring husband seems to knock ALL women who do it -- when in fact many women do it out of religious principle -- or even out of love for the erring spouse. Such women are to be honored.

I have REALLY been thinking, wondering & PRAYING for youi since your note that "you'd be dropping out of site for awhile"....
whatever transpired in your life, I hope that it can all be put behind you & that you are rested & refreshed to face the world.
Welcome Back. I dont check in too often. Been pretty busy here & there..
Getting pretty cold in Maine by now I imagine. Already much too cold here for my preferences !

Hi Ed.. as a Christian myself, I can relate to what you are saying. ...But with the senator, it has been pretty evident that she is staying with her spouse for reasons other than love, Christian ideals & ethics.
Just IMHO....

"honored"
You must be joking ..?? No self-respecting Pastor should ever allow one of his sheep to remain in a relationship which would be harmful to her (or him). Most women stay because they are either afraid to leave, or they don't have the self-confidence to leave. Either reason is nothing to be "honored".

"...a generalization that it "looks bad" when a woman stays with an erring husband seems to knock ALL women who do it -- when in fact many women do it out of religious principle -- or even out of love for the erring spouse. Such women are to be honored." Sorry, but I disagree...marriages are "torn asunder" when either of the spouses refuses to forsake all others, IMHO. A woman who stays nominally hitched despite repeated dalliances by the husband needn't be honored, especially when its a situation like the HildaBeast's, wherein I believe she stays married out of an unhealthy LustFerPower!!

Common Tator and I drove thru Batavia late last night on way back from Cinti Tall Stacks... thought of you.
It was a wonderful time there in both Cinti side & the Newport Leve..
I had not been there for about a decade. WOW.. what a difference. Same transformation in Cleveland.. from messy waterfront that attracted derelicts & rats (the rodent type) to a hot area for entertainment and showcasing ones city

Thank you so very muvh for your kind words..and your paryers as well..
I had been on the verge of pnuemonia, and had a serious bacterial lung infection..
was also having a hard time dealing with placing my Dad in a nursing facility, and closing up and getting his home ready to sell..
I had to come to terms with it, I wasn't in a good place for awhile..
I am rested and feel strong, and with the help of Freepers, and family, I am much better..
It is getting very cold here in Maine, and we are preparing the house for winter, and getting ready to stack wood, and all that good stuff
Sure wish you all could be here to see the spectacular fall foliage..
Again, I thank you so very much DollyCali..
It means a lot to me..
Love,
Ms.B

"How could anyone say such mean things about W? He treats everyone so nicely, even those he should just haul off and poke right in their WC Fields noses!" Dubyuh's congeniality is one of the things that makes the RATS loathe him all the more...just like Ronald Reagan.
FReegards...MUD
BTW...I do wish Dubyuh would haul off and poke the RATS in the schnozz with some honest-to-goodness domestic spending cuts, though...sometimes he's a little too congenial to his political enemies fer my tastes.

I also had a "rough" summer & really didn't know if I would make it .. quite a few times.. June 1 on....6 weeks of super ill.. then a broken foot that coincided with raccoons loose in house & 4 floods in basement over 5 weeks.. It was difficult. I live with my invalid mom & well, that too is a TRIP..
so I think I can commiserate a little with your ordeal. It is sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
One really wants to just run away from everything.. disappear..
well, again, I hope that the fall & into the holidays gives you much joy
