[history]
President Bush's grandfather was a director of a bank seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler's rise to power, government documents show.
Prescott Bush was one of seven directors of Union Banking Corp., a New York investment bank owned by a bank controlled by the Thyssen family, according to recently declassified National Archives documents reviewed by The Associated Press.

My questions also. And for AP to move the story on their National wire is, well, odd.

Bush's grandfather worked at a bank. The bank had ties to someone who bankrolled Hitler.
READ THIS CAREFULLY.

Prescott Bush is very old news. He was investigated at during WW II. I could give a sh!t what old Precott said or did with his bank or how corrupt he might have been.
Time to move on, nothing to see here . . . sins of the grandfathers and yada yada yada.

I wonder how Ashcroft's grandfather might fit into all this. ;-)

They're digging for dirt out of desperation for the Dems. Last week, "60 Minutes" had something about Dubya being a member of some super secret club at Yale. Who cares?
Try, try, try to paint him bad, media. We're not buying your picture.

Nonsense, between Arnold and George, we'll all be goose stepping soon! < /sarcasm >
It's ironic that those who most reflect the Nazis' views about the role of government, i.e. the liberals, use the bad name of the National Socialist Party against their political enemies.

Did you catch how misleading they wrote that first sentence?
It was deliberately written to make it sound like Bush's grandfather bankrolled Hitler.
Reading carefully, it is clear that Bush's grandfather worked in a bank. The Bank had ties to a German industrialist who bankrolled Hitler.

From the headline, I thought this article was from Rense.com or IndyMedia. AP throwing low blows...Reminds me of LA Times attempt to associate Arnold with Nazi's.

And everyone really needs to re-read that first sentence, which is deliberately misleading.
Bush's grandfather DID NOT bankroll Hitler.
Bush's grandfather worked in a bank that had ties to a man who bankrolled Hitler. That's quite a step removed.

"The documents do not show any evidence Bush directly aided that effort. His position with Union Banking never was a political issue for Bush," Shouldn't this be the end of the story? I stopped reading here.

http://www.spectrezine.org/resist/bush.htm As this review shows, the investment was made in the 1920's; involved, inter alia, Averill Harriman father of the modern Democratic party and Thyssen who left Germany in 1938 after breaking from the Nazis. When can we expect a story about Ambassador Joseph Kennedy who in the 40's supported the Nazis and did whatever he could to keep us from attacking Hitler? (Clue:Don't hold your breath.)
