FREEPERS, I have taken a break from Terri's 24/7 Vigil to ask for your participation in the next phase of trying to save Terri's life while we wait for good news.

I have not received the Governor's Itinerary for the following week yet from myflorida.com.

We are asking Floridians and out-of-staters to freep the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee.

If you need ideas for signs, it's basically urging Governor Bush to issue an executive order to stay Terri's starvation.

At this time, the Florida Supremes are reviewing filings today by Terri's counsel.

We need northern Florida to freep Jeb Bush STAT whether he's there or not.

Finally, if anyone receives Jeb's schedule in their e-newsletter, please post it here so we can hold Terri vigils in whatever town Jeb is in.

It depends. Are you doing it in order to deter someone from doing so, or are you doing it to incite violence on the part of others? There is a fine line :0)

That being said, while I wouldn't advocate it myself, if someone says they are going to storm in there and get her out, I can live with that. When they atart going on about overturning cars, rioting and stuff like that it goes waaaaaaay too far. I hope you understand my perspective :)

This fight is at the state level, and I agree with you there. If your elected officials aren't doing anything about it, you need to elect some that do put some value on life and will pass state laws reflecting that.

825.102 Abuse, aggravated abuse, and neglect of an elderly person or disabled adult; penalties.-- (1) "Abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult" means: (a) Intentional infliction of physical or psychological injury upon an elderly person or disabled adult; (b) An intentional act that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or psychological injury to an elderly person or disabled adult; or (c) Active encouragement of any person to commit an act that results or could reasonably be expected to result in physical or psychological injury to an elderly person or disabled adult. A person who knowingly or willfully abuses an elderly person or disabled adult without causing great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the elderly person or disabled adult commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. (2) "Aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult" occurs when a person: (a) Commits aggravated battery on an elderly person or disabled adult; (b) Willfully tortures, maliciously punishes, or willfully and unlawfully cages, an elderly person or disabled adult; or (c) Knowingly or willfully abuses an elderly person or disabled adult and in so doing causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the elderly person or disabled adult. A person who commits aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. (3)(a) "Neglect of an elderly person or disabled adult" means: 1. A caregiver's failure or omission to provide an elderly person or disabled adult with the care, supervision, and services necessary to maintain the elderly person's or disabled adult's physical and mental health, including, but not limited to, food, nutrition, clothing, shelter, supervision, medicine, and medical services that a prudent person would consider essential for the well-being of the elderly person or disabled adult; or 2. A caregiver's failure to make a reasonable effort to protect an elderly person or disabled adult from abuse, neglect, or exploitation by another person. Neglect of an elderly person or disabled adult may be based on repeated conduct or on a single incident or omission that results in, or could reasonably be expected to result in, serious physical or psychological injury, or a substantial risk of death, to an elderly person or disabled adult. (b) A person who willfully or by culpable negligence neglects an elderly person or disabled adult and in so doing causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the elderly person or disabled adult commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. The Governor IS the law enforcement officer for Florida, the Chief Magistrate. The law says it is a CRIME to abuse or neglect a disabled person. He has a DUTY to act, with force if necessary.

Well, what I was really trying to find out if you are looking for a solution based on actually thinking or just through feelings. I had no ulterior motives.

Now, that being said, it is certainly not moral to starve someone to death. I don't know anyone, nor would I associate with anyone, who found it moral.

However, that being said, I just want to make sure that we don't have government leades jumping in and circumventing their lawful duties in order to do something. I want them to have a completely legal and airtight basis for interfering. Does that make sense?

Civil Rights are a Federal Issue now. Her 14th Amendment rights are being violated. If either of the Bush brothers had a lick of sense they'd seize the day.

Actually, I'd argue that her 14th amendment rights are NOT being violated, sad as it is. The key phrase is "Due process of law". It's not like some cop walked in and said, "Ok, unplug her now because we dont' like how she looks.". THere was due process. However, due process doesn't necesarily mean "just". :(

Sure. The law does not support the starvation murder of anyone. A death row inmate on a hunger strike would get force fed. In this case both the Bishops and Bush brothers have failed in their clear duties. I am disgusted as a Catholic and as a Republican.
