I'm reading a wonderful book called "Seriously Funny" about the comedians of the 1950s and 1960s. There's a chapter on Bob Newhart that is quite refreshing. He just comes right out and basically says, "Why would anyone want to hear me discuss politics? Who am I? It's just not my place to tell people my views."
