"The litmus test is whether or not a person can bring a spoon to their mouth." -- Attorney George Felos August 2001, commenting on the standard that should apply in deciding to terminate life in nursing homes, rehab and daycare centers in America (Michael Schiavo's attorney)
So Joni Eareckson Tada should be starved/dehydrated to death? Stephen Hawking should be starved/dehydrated to death? Christopher Reeve should be starved/dehydrated to death? Roy Horn should be starved/dehydrated to death? Disabled veterans or policemen or firemen who lost their arms in the line of duty should be starved/dehydrated to death? Any victim of a skiing or diving accident that breaks his or her back below the second or third vertebra should be starved/dehydrated to death? All toddlers in this country should be starved/dehydrated to death? It is absolutely insane. INSANE! And I don't know what I can do to stop it. I've already written/faxed/called/emailed everyone I can think of to step in and help Terri. I'm hoping for a SWAT team to burst in there and take her to the waiting arms of her parents.

Excellent point. It's the legal system in Florida, as I see it. As someone said earlier, "Sometimes the law is an ass." I worry that our efforts are too little too late.
