The husband likely put her in this condition. He is now obstructing justice. Do you think it's a good presidence to have on the books to allow a criminal to be in charge of the evidence. By the way, your 13 years thing is wrong. When he was in court he claimed he would take care of her. Later, ``he rememebered'' that she wanted to die. So at the very least it's perjury.

LOL, this has to be the funniest post I've seen here in quite awhile. Check up on the facts of this case before you throw any sympathy toward this monster. My God, he won't even allow Terri's mother in the room as her daughter is dying, the SOB.

I took the time to check out some of the films of her. She's most definetly aware of things and people around her, and as far as what she is and is not capable of doing in the future, we have not the foggiest idea because her ex-husband has denied her even a -moment- of rehabilitation. But there's a whole suite of doctors who say she could make a tremendous amount of progress if only she could be given some sort of rehab.

The fact that her husband hasn't even permitted such attempts at rehab in 13 years - THAT is what speaks volumes.

Something about the husband's entitlement to a $1.6 million trust fund if she dies and it isn't spent on therapy first, makes his claims about her wishes suspect. Regardless of her condition, he shouldn't have any standing to keep her parents away from her, prohibit any attempts at therapy, etc. We'd get to the truth about her condition a lot quicker if he was out of the picture.

If it weren't for modern medicine she would have died long ago.

My mother's biggest fear was that she would live beyond her congnitive abilities. That is exactly what happened to her. She develped Alzheimer's. My family went with her wishes and asked that heroic means not be used if she had a stroke or heart attack.

Sometimes we have to let people go.

At which cut-off point do you feel it is acceptable to kill people because of their lack of function? If they can operate a wheelchair, wave to people, say words, play simple card games, chew food if fed by someone else? Define when a person deserves to live by virtue of their function.

So then you must believe that anyone who can no longer function in society should die? We should empty all the nursing homes in this country and kill the people in them, because chances are that the people in them fit your definition.

Oh, and you have the full grasp on the subject? Her brain functions - she opens her eyes when asked and responds when in the company of her family and others the only way she can, with actions and expresions. She is not hooked up to life support, only feeding tubes, her bodily functions all work with out assistance. There is no poor husband, he has denied her care, profited from her condition, moved onto another relationship and started another family. I am sad for you for the way you feel, while greed is the motivation for some in this case all you have to gain is a sick and morbid sense of superiority - .

I think the case has caused so much attention because she does mover her eyes towards moving objects. She is not unaware of what is going on around her.

She has been denied, by her husband and guardian, any attempt at rehabilitation. She breathes on her own.

Yet, because she is unable to speak for herself, not unlike unborn babies, that too rely upon another for subsitence, her husband wants her subsitence denied.

This could set quite a precedence in this country for people that have severe injuries, or are severely disabled, but cannot talk nor feed themselves.

Should they all be denied food and water, when their existence becomes 'inconvenient'? When their spouse desides it's time to marry the women he has been shacking up with for several years and already has one child by, and is awaiting the delivery of the second?
