David Limbaugh Gives Update On Rush
EIB Network

Posted on 10/16/2003 10:37:18 AM PDT by ventana

At approximately 1:15, Roger Hedgecock, sitting in behind the golden EIB microphone for Rush Limbaugh, interviewed Rush's brother, David. Rush, as fans know, is in rehab for an addiction to pain medication.

David spoke passionately about how completely united the Limbaugh family is around Rush at this difficult time as he makes his recovery and David stressed every family member's support. David was equally passionate about the family's gratitude for Rush's extended EIB family and the prayers, e-mails and offers of support they have provided during the last several days. He emphasized how much this support has meant to Rush, and he additionally emphasized that Rush is making solid progress.

David went on to ask that all of Rush's audience continue in their support both as listeners and individuals praying for Rush's recovery.

Following up, Hedgecock asked David about his new book, Persecution, regarding the war liberals are waging in the public square against Christians. Interestingly, the passion Limbaugh brought to this subject was a throwback to early Rush Limbaugh shows when the moral fabric of society, and the attack thereon often provided fodder for Limbaugh's discussions, spoofs, and insightful commentary. David Limbaugh clearly wished to honor his brother with his appearance and promised that more would be forthcoming in order to keep the EIB audience up to date regarding Rush Limbaugh

If moral credibility were predicated on moral perfection, even our church pulpits would be silent.

Many churches have removed those whose moral inperfections have become beyond obvious. More should have done so or we wouldn't be in the mess that one large demonination is currently suffering.

Chances are if he did, he won't. At least for now.

Of course the libertarian party has sent their own best wishes to Limbaugh.

"One thing we don't hear from American politicians very often is silence," said Joe Seehusen, Libertarian Party executive director. "By refusing to criticize Rush Limbaugh, every drug warrior has just been exposed as a shameless, despicable hypocrite."

"And that's good news, because the next time they do speak up, there'll be no reason for anyone to listen."

Thank you libertarians.

Sometimes Rush has been wrong, but more often he has been right.

The liberal left justifiably fears him as one of the most popular and eloquent spokespersons for Conservatism in America. Remember Ed AssNer's quip - "We got Rush, Hannity is next"

He has my best wishes for a quick recovery and rapid return to the airwaves. I hope hsi recent experience does not dull the acerbity of his attacks.

I have no doubt that there are "ugly" threads on both sides of this issue. I do not recall a single poster who has demanded Christ like "moral perfection" from Rush.

If it wasn't for low class, Seehusen wouldn't have any class.

...although conservatives think that character matters in public life, we have never bought into the idea that moral credibility is predicated on moral perfection.

I'll take "WHY and to WHAT we should ASPIRE", for $500.00, Alex. :)

The LP kind of reminds me of the buzzard you see on the dead animal in the highway.

here are some words from Rush' brother David

" LIMBAUGH back on the radio? That was DAVID LIMBAUGH, RUSH's brother and a noted conservative author in his own right, talking to CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFYI-A/PHOENIX' BRUCE JACOBS about RUSH's troubles. DAVID said RUSH is "doing fine and it's gonna be a tough time," noting that some of RUSH's liberal opponents "are being very charitable and kind, but some are being vicious."

I think most do aspire to be perfect. But we are none of us perfect people. We are complex with a variety of problems.

It is how one chooses to handle those problems and complexities. The liberals tend to lie or change the law, or pretend it doesn't really matter.

In other words, fair "criticism" of Rush because of possible hypocrisy on the drug issue should not be permitted. If that is not what are saying, what are you saying? Are you saying that he should be immune from criticism?

Not at all, but trying to turn Limbaugh into the libertarian poster child for drug legalization...well, most folks would consider that kind of tackey. But hey, they could read the whole LP press release if their undecided.

I didn't post anywhere that Freepers were demanding "Christ-like moral perfection from Rush". Those are your words.

I hope you know I was not singling out any particular Freeper for a lack of support

Oh no! I know that Peach. Hey, some people were singularly mean. I have to say, most liberals have charitably kept their mouths shut except for a few of the more obvious suspects. V's wife.

I would recommend reading Ann Coulter's article

"With Half His Brain Tied Behind His Back"

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1001860/posts

excerpt:

Rush has hardly been the anti-drug crusader liberals suggest. Indeed, Rush hasn't had much to say about drugs at all since that spinal operation. The Rush Limbaugh quote that has been endlessly recited in the last week to prove Rush's rank "hypocrisy" is this, made eight years ago: "Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

What precisely are liberals proposing that Rush should have said to avoid their indignant squeals of "hypocrisy"? Announce his support for the wide and legal availability of a prescription painkiller that may have caused him to go deaf and nearly ruined his career and wrecked his life? I believe that would have been both evil and hypocritical.

Or is it simply that Rush should not have become addicted to painkillers in the first place? Well, no, I suppose not. You've caught us: Rush has a flaw. And yet, the wily hypocrite does not support flaws!

It has been the usual suspects. I even saw one article that compared Rush to Clinton and thought at the time - you know you've really made it when as a radio talk show host you get compared to a former president! Even an impeached former president. LOL
