he/she said he "looked it up".
Doesn't sound like the St. Petersburg Times to me either.

How do you know that it's gone? Are you privy to her medical records, because I wouldn't mind getting a look at them if you could pass that on. The only thing I've been able to get my hands on are a few minimal descriptions in some pdf court-filings. However, if you could provide more, I'd appreciate that very much!

Hold on, I'm getting my watering can....;-) Sounds like you need some fertilizer, too.....

Yeah, why don't we just legalize assisted suicide, anyway? Good question.

When did Terri Schiavo ever "ask" for food and water?I am not aware that she ever did, but quite a few people before her time did.

Again, how and where did Terri make this decision for herself? Again, as I have patiently explained to you again and again (and this will be the LAST time), the law covers occurrences when a person does not make their last wishes known via Living Will or other means. If you object, then change the law.

Sure, assisted suicide is working so well down the road from me. Now they have different sick patients fighting each other in groups to survive health-care rationing...but feel free to move. Oregon is one interesting state. Ever been there?
The choice is all yours.

You are right, she didn't and the Judge made a decision on hear say from her husband and nothing else. You have no proof of that assertion.
What is relevent is that fact that this Judge refused to appoint her a Guardian Ad Litem to represent Terry's rights
Then take it up with the judge, not me.

These folks can't reach their minds around anything else except what THEY want. I mean, this person is more upset about the PAPERWORK than the human. All I can do is shake my head and wonder what the hell is going on upstairs there.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are we? I was referring to the last ten years of Terri's life.
You keep dreaming about that personal choice and how much water your piece of paper will hold when the time comes. I know differently, but I hope you sleep well at night all the same. They do say bliss is possible under some conditions.

yeah, that of course would have been ideal. But it didn't happen, as most 26 year olds are, so now we have to deal with what we can do NOW. The State of Florida IS dealing with it, under the laws of that state. The proper venue to advocate for changes in their laws if you disagree with them is the courts, or public opinion, or even sites like FreeRepublic. I wish you luck.

My mother's was very specific, and it worked very well. It wasn't what you portray at all. I would have to know far more about the particular circumstances of your mother's death to address your comment properly.
My assertion still stands. In many cases, a living will is virtually useless in determining the proper course of medical treatment. The reason for that is that most living wills cannot possibly anticipate all of the specifics involved in a particular case. A DNR request (do not resuscitate)--is the perfect example. My understanding is that most living wills avoid stipulating specifics for that very reason.

I'm glad I do. People are so screwed up, OF.

Good question. That you think it's a good question is all I need to know.
