BTW, the author really is THAT Jimmie Walker, of "Dy-no-MITE!" fame.

On target. I can't stand the Eagles but have found myself rooting for McNabb to do well. Why? I was hoping that more successful black QBs might break down racial barriers and encourage other young blacks to take that path. Guess that makes me a racist too. LOL.

Yes, and he was talk show host in my city a few years ago, during the impeachment era. He said Clinton would stay in office, and he was correct.

There were no "racial overtones" in what Rush said on-air. He was just reporting the facts as troubling as they may be. Rush wasn't reporting "facts"--he was giving his opinion. If Rush had backed up his opinion with facts (citing sports reporters and their commentary as proof) as he did on his radio show the week following the incident, he might not have gotten into as much hot water. But they were gunning for him, so it probably wouldn't have made much difference.

Imagine my pleasant surprise to read this missive from Jimmie Walker!
Black conservative ping
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

Thanks for posting this. It looks as though Jimmie Walker could be embarking on second career. There would be a huge demand for a conservative, Black, celebrity, political writer or spokesperson.

I met Jimmie Walker at a comedy club a few years ago and talked to him afterward about writing material for him, since my wife and I are radio comedy writers. He stayed around to chat with us for nearly half an hour, sent us all the info and release forms he promised, bought some lines and paid promptly, and overall was one of the nicest people I've ever met in show business. I had no inkling of his politics at the time, but it's interesting that the "mean, hard-hearted conservatives" I've met in the business almost all turned out to be really nice people, while many of the "caring, compassionate liberals" treat regular people like toilet paper. Imagine how far you'd get if you tried to talk to Barbra Streisand after a show about submitting songs to her.
