I wish I would've saw the link yesterday; they're already onto today's sad story. Was it the shot from the first-base photographer's pit that everyone else has, or was it a new shot that was along the foul line?

The key, at least from the umpiring standpoint, is where everything was in relation to the wall. If the hand and ball were on the stands side, it was merely a very stupid move on the part of the guy. If they were on the field side, it is by definition fan interference, with the "penalty" left up to the umpire. Based on Alou's positioning to make a catch, and the example given in the MLB rulebook, it should have been ruled an out in that case.

Damn the curse anyhow.

It was taken from about 30-50 degrees from vertical in the direction toward home plate and about 10-15% clockwise from the wall. I saved it as a jpeg but I don't have any way of linking to it.
