According to Mosby's Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health Dictionary:
Vegetative state, a physical condition in which a previously comatose patient appears to be awake but is unable to communicate OR RESPOND TO STIMULI. The eyes may be open but because of senile brain disease, cerebral arteriosclerosis, or injury to the cerebral cortex the patient remains immobile and must be fed and toileted.
Now: Go watch the video clips, and watch her respond with her eyes wide open, making eye contact. Decide whether definition of vegetative state is accurate for Terri.

I had to watch my Grandmother in a vegetative state for over a year. I got to see everything that comes with it. Thanks but no thanks....that is not living & I KNOW that she wouldn't have wanted to stay that way. You have your definition of "living" & I have mine. Feeding tubes & ventilators are not a part of it. Thanks :)
