This is madness, and so saddening at the same time. What is wrong with this country?

I feel the same way. I can't believe that some people are so apathetic about this or even supportive of it. Don't they realize what kind of precedent this sets? Now it's ok to legally murder the disabled? Let me give you an example of someone who thinks this way, and I hope some of you go over to this site and have a word with this guy:

http://www.discussanything.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=490445%20#post490445

This is unreal and so sad.

The Founding Fathers understood that Governments have only the powers which the People allow them ;and the Second Admendment was written to ensure that the People had the Means to stop Tyrants .

Didn't the judges of Colonial times cause a lot of trouble with their Decrees ?

By the way, I (and probably every Thinking Person in America) predicted this in 1973, when the Supreme Court ruled abortion legal in a bizarre extension of privacy rights. Those willing to kill a precious infant have proven they are capable of Any Evil. From killing a baby to killing a cripple to killing an aged person to killing those of the "wrong" opinion are very tiny steps sideways.

Think of the horror you might experience trapped in a body that won't do what you want it ti because of injury and lack of care, and being aware those who should be helping you only want to kill you.

I'm shocked and horrified as to what has happened to this woman and this poor woman's family.

I cannot understand WHY the courts favored a starvation death in favor of a life - which seems to be responsive to sounds and lights (tracking) and laughs and smiles - which is showing some pleasure on some level, because she can cry too if something hurts/discomfort...

Anyway, WHY did the husband win?!!!!

I haven't payed that close attn to this case, I was aware of it and today was shocked at the turn of events (removing her feeding tube) Is there insurance money to collect for him? I would imagine the insurance lawyers would've petitioned for her to live if that's the case, and besides I believe he should never get a dime of insurance money since he wanted & fought for her to die.

As a parent I'm numb to think this could happen to your child (no matter what age) IF she/he married some &*#@!&*.

If anyone can enlighten me as to why this creep won - with only his sister's word as to what Terri's wishes would be I'd be grateful.

thanks in advance!

Obviously, they intend to kill her. That being so, why do they condem her to the pain of thirst and starvation? Why not just kill her quickly using any one of a number of methods?

Why? Because they are cowards.

Those of you who are new to the story about Terri, please don't trust what you see in the media- most of the reporters have taken press releases from her husband's attorney and not done any checking on their own. If you are interested in the truth about what is going on you need to spend some time doing a little research. Start at:
www.terrisfight.org
to get the basic story and various court documents and video of Terri. Then I suggest you go to GOOGLE and do some searches. When you research PVS or Vegetative state, please also use the word "misdiagnosis" I have read opinions of various specialists about what it is and it can be anything from a comatose state to a description of a handicapped person, such as you might see at Special Olympics. It really is quite scary. If you still think some of us are over reacting about this case and the meaning for all of us if this is allowed- search for Hemlock Society Australia. Some of that group is already proposing that ANYONE who wishes to die, be allowed to- even if perfectly healthy- an elderly person who is bored or depressed, a confused teenager- PEOPLE WAKE UP...they are way past handicapped people in their thinking.
Remember- Hemlock is a worldwide organization, and is surely not the only organized force. These laws that were used against Terri were originally passed so that terminally ill people in great pain and suffering or brain dead people could be allowed to die. Whether or not you agree with that idea- the fact is the right to die people have moved WAY, WAY beyond that, it is handicapped people who are "too much bother" today and who will it be tomorrow? Will you be fighting for years in court for your teenager who was just confused about life, and had a passing idea to end it all??? I am sorry if this sounds like I am starting a fight- I am just angry with this situation and all those who have allowed it to happen- I sure hope some of you who don't understand why we are fighting so hard for Terri will do some research. I think you will be horrified at what you find.

This just goes to show who is really running things. Corrupt judges can do anything they want, trump any law they want, and write any law they want. They've been allowed to shake down anybody with money and trash the Constitution. Now they're allowed to order people to be killed. What's to stop them from constructing concentration camps and starting up the gas chambers?

Their colleagues, the other branches of government, and the will of the people are powerless against them. Welcome to the era of a totalitarian shadow government, it only gets worse from here on out.

I begged the Hospice employees not to do this to Terri. If they didn't have the courage to stand against this injustice, to at least allow her loving parents to comfort her, and to allow her Priest to administer Last Rites. Hospice contact info.

NautiNurse says 3 police are in Terri's room. Officers of the law, who defend the innocent from bad guys, are preventing loving parents from comforting their dying daughter.

They wouldn't starve a handicapped police dog. They wouldn't starve a condemned murderer. Pinellas County Sheriff's office e-mail contacts

The last time Judge Greer ordered Terri's feeding tube removed (without ever meeting her), she went without food and water for 60 hours, I think, before the courts intervened.

60 hours without food or water would cure many of these right-to-kill advocates, and their frightened and gullible victims, imho.

Matthew 45:40 - 46
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Perhaps not, though. Perhaps the doctor has made an inference based on a selective reading from the pro-husband doctors, and not read the pro-parent doctors.

From this very informative post on another thread::

August 7, 2001 - Judge Greer ignored all the evidence presented to him and ordered to have Terri's feeding stopped on August 28, 2001. In his written court order, he admitted he did not read six of the seven doctor's affidavits.

Please go to the web site terrisfight.org and look at the downloads and read the story. If she has proper rehab she may now even be walking. I have seen and known people who have had strokes and they look much worse than her and yet they have somewhat normal lives.

After you watch the downloads and read then add some more to the conversation.

Thanks,
MCD

it'd be nice for those of us who believe in the power of prayer to set aside one minute, say noon tomorrow, Thursday the 16th, for a minute of prayer for Terri and for the family who loves her.

How true, it's sickening!!!

Your post moved me to tears, I can't imagine how the health care workers must feel about this case...

I'm just shocked about the outcome of this case, it defies logic to me as well as the most basic human morality.

Her parents love her and want to be with her, and care for her and this "husband" who's moved on with a girlfriend and baby just wants $$$ and to be done with her.

If nothing else, I wish there could be some type of law passed that in cases like this where there are such drastic and conflicting opinions on whether anyone would want to live or die if in an altered state as this...it must be done in WRITING in advance, before you ever suffer an accident etc...

Just like a will is something concrete to look at and make decisions, if a life is at stake - then if there are questions - it's got to be concrete and in writing.

I am praying for this family and Terri - I hope something happens to stop this murder.

It's more that sad, it is a landmark. When people can be killed because one person wants them dead, what is to stop the 21st century version of Cyklon B and gas ovens?

That's one of the reason why we need people like Pope John Paul II, because a) he and others like him teach that all life has dignity and b) as someone disabled, old, and frail he is a living, defiant example of that message.

Chris Matthews was just horrible about this case a minute ago. He rudely attacked a minister who was on his program, snide comments directed toward the man.

Even made fun of the minister's first name, which was Flip. Said something like, your first name is fitting.

Attacked him for carrying his bible too.

Chris of course has taken the side against this poor woman.

If it comes on later in your area, you might want to catch this. Truly awful.

"They have suspected for years that she was being choked and subsequently had a heart attack as a result."

So why hasn't an investigation been launched into her husband, or was there and I am just not aware of it? Seems to me that he would be highly suspect. I've seen the cops cause far more grief for innocent parents of abducted children. And even if he was not guilty of strangling her, the fact that he is in such a hurry for her to die seems like it should be raising some red flags in the courts, especially the fact that the man is obviously so cold-blooded as to not even allow for the most simple of comforts to the woman he swore to love, honor and cherish till they are parted by death. I guess that's it. He just feels so strongly about honoring his marriage vows that he can't get on with his life with his mistress until his wife is dead. How thoughtful. < /sarcasm >
