Just recently got caught up on this case. I just saw the videos of her on her web site. Seeing her makes you draw back in distaste because she cannot speak clearly and makes gutteral sounds. It is uncomfortable. But it is not she who is uncomfortable; it is us.
It seems to me that people calling for her death and knowing what she is capable of would say that parents should be able to stop feeding their children with cerebral palsey. Now that's distasteful.

I'll say it again:

There is a murder in progress.

The Governor needs to dispatch 100 state troopers and a team of real doctors to the crime scene

Somebody needs to do something, alright ! I'll repeat what I said earlier on another thread:

Texas Death Row murderer/prisoners are treated more humanely than this woman is about to get.

Before they roll them out, they are give a sedative, a pill to make them relaxed. Then, they are rolled out to the execution chamber and the needle inserted into their arm and they are given MORE drugs to make them very drowsy/sleepy/sedated. Then finally, they are given the chemicals that ends their life. The whole process take a matter of a few minutes and they NEVER feel a thing !

The agony of 7-14 days starvation death is HORRENDOUS !! ...

Yes, someone please contact the adults in Florida !

Would you like the chance to receive therapy before they pulled the plug?

So you're saying that the federal judges were wrong in washing their hands of it? If so, I heartily agree. Then you must agree it smells bad regarding Terri also, right?

Hmmmm…..well, let’s look at this quote from USA Today…Shall we?

She has been severely brain damaged since suffering a heart attack in Feb 24,1990. She has been unable to eat, speak or control her bodily functions. Doctors have testified that she is in a persistent vegetative state, which means she is essentially unconscious though her eyes are open.

Also: The parents say that she responds to them & tries to speak. Other medical experts have testified that such sounds & movements are merely reflexes consistent with the vegetative state.

Now…..what this family has had to go through is indeed extremely sad…..The comment I posted was what I would want done for myself. Not everyone agrees with that & that is okay. It is great to have a choice. Which is why there is such a thing as a living will.

Maybe we could start sending emails daily, asking, "Have you eaten anything today? Did you drink anything today? Whenever you eat, think of Terri. She's being starved to death. Whenever you drink anything, think of Terri. She's dying of thirst."

Local news coverage: Terri's mother was permitted to visit her this afternoon. There are three police officers in Terri's room.

Worse, in Terry's case, people have fought hard to prevent her parents from feeding her. Wow.

It will be interesting to hear what she has to say. No doubt Terri is completely sedated though.

I just want to scream!

We have turned into sheep. Scared of our government, scared of our own shadows. Scared to light a cigarette, own a gun, etc. etc. etc. Our freedom has been gradually taken away....bit by bit. Now we are letting them kill our children. God help us.

So what does her husband want now, for us to think he's so caring he allowed her mother to visit? UNSPEAKABLE!

I've been doing that all day, fasting, praying and drinking water, which she isn't allowed to have. Wish they could go without food or water for 10 or so days.

As far as the Elian case, I think t the judges acted correctly.

The persons who could have changed the course of events were Janet Reno or President Clinton, who acted incorrectly, in my view.

As far as the Schiavo case, I wish the family had decided to put their animosities aside and develop a solution where all parties agreed. Playing judicial hardball is not a good idea to solve family disputes.

Both the Florida Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court have reviewed this case. Further judicial litigation seems pointless.

Tuesday, the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland, Florida, refused to block a probate judge's order to remove the feeding tube. Florida's Supreme Court has twice refused to hear the case. The U.S. Supreme Court also declined to hear it in 2001.

Michael Schiavo has collected more than $1 million from settlements and court awards, money the Schindlers claim should have been used for rehabilitative care.

Michael Schiavo says the Schindlers' comments stem from anger because they didn't receive any money from the malpractice suit.

He said 18 doctors have examined his wife in the past 13 years, that she has been to several different hospitals and even had a brain stimulator placed in her head, but showed no progress.

They were not killing them for the cost savings but for ideological reasons particularly the "defective."

Not true, cost was a factor, but your arguments make me weary.

The trouble is people don't believe in Nazis anymore. They don't believe in evil. Everything is environmental influences or economics. As you can see from justshutup's replies, he blames you for name-calling as if you called him a boogerhead or something. This nasty business is Satan at work, a job made easier by all these rational, reasonable, understand-both-sides, rule-of-legalism-at-all-costs who deny the existence of evil.
