"I hope that if I am EVER in a vegetative state for years on end, that someone will do the merciful thing & pull the plug." - your words

Well, I hope that if I am EVER in a vegetative state for years on end, that someone will do the merciful thing & try to rehabilitate me, let me go outside and get fresh air, let people send me flowers, let me listen to music, stroke my hand, talk with me, love me, let me receive the sacraments, and last but not least, if nothing else helps, keep giving me food and water! I guess I just appreciate the little things in life more than you do.

starving her to death is fatal too, so why can't they at least let them try. I know why...they know she can be rehabilitated and they don't want that.

Why do people want to artificial prolong the "life" of this lady? She would be long dead without medical intervention. If this were to happen to me I would hope that those who love me would not subject me to such a procedure.

Are babies lives "artifically prolonged" when they are nursed and given food? Of course not. Terri is not being "artifically" prolonged. She breathes, her heart beats, she sees, she hears, she simply cannot eat normally because her rat f**k of a husband was too selfish to give her rehab.

Well, I'm sending emails from everyone of my email addresses.

I'm open to more suggestions. If I lived in FL I would be down there with protest signs.

I am ready and willing if you come up with another idea.

Someone needs to be down there PHYSICALLY stopping this.

Here's something to ponder. Even if she sat up and spoke it would change nothing. The procedure would continue.

Felos would point out to Greer that even though she spoke, she is not now capable or compitent to make such serious decisions so her "original request to her husband" would stand.

The judge, of course, would agree and Terri's precious right to privacy would be upheld.

Wake up and smell the crematory!

Right, so we can't try to feed her instead of deliberately killing her because we might accidentally kill her.

Tell me how that one makes sense.

I'm not here to defend any side of this debate.

Could it be that, some time in the past, the medical staff tried to feed Terry and she choked, or she got a respiratory infection?

I have not read all the information on this case, but the judges have.

That's why I'm willing to give the judges the benefit of the doubt, and I will concede that people of good will disagree on this issue.

I really do not understand what the Husband's problem is with allowing this woman to stay alive.....

It's all about $$$, not to mention the possibility that someday she may be able to communicate exactly what happened the night of her collapse 13 years ago...

Not enough yet, IMO. He is the only one who can help.

If there was ever a time for a constitional crisis; a clash between the executive branch and the judicial branch; this is it.

That is the only course open. Send in the troopers and a medical team, get her out of that Aushwitz/'hospice', and then fight it out legally.

The protection of innocent human life is the primary charge of our elected officials.

That would be your choice which you should make in a legal document. That way the family would know you thoughts, even when you couldn't presently make them known. That's different, and if that is your wish, I hope that you make it widely known. This poor girl smiles on seeing her parents. Try snuffing that out. IF you could, you would be less of a man than I think you are. Let's all pray that there is a recovery for Terri.

I can't stand it! We're here debating and a human being is dying while it could be prevented. Isn't there someone a position of power that will stop this?

Why are such massive interventions not resisting the Will of God?..This is a question I can't answer but it is clear that there are unintended consequences from allowing those to live who would have died routinely. Not the least of those are the impacts of driving ever higher the costs of bloated governments..

Terri's case is not a "massive intervention." And taxpayers' money is not being used for Terri's care. So don't make a false issue out of that here.

Now is the time for GOD to do a miracle! Please, Lord, we desperately need your AWESOME hand today! Father, by some wonderful wonder please let her regain all her speech so that she can speak and stop this horrible execution! Please Jesus, it's out of our hands now and into yours, please intervene!

I have already told my family, hon. Unless I am brain dead and unsconscious and on a ventilator, DO NOT HAVE ME KILLED. Got that? I don't know why you steadfastly refuse to understand that she is not in a coma and has never been in a coma. Please try to at least familiarize yourself with the facts of this case.

"Meanwhile, liberals all over this country continue to advocate against the death penalty for murderers"

That's because they only believe in the death penalty for innocents.

""Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes." (Is. 5:20-21)

I agree. I think the FL freepers should be out in front of that hospital with a laptop set up showing those cam clips of Terri over and over again.

I don't mind the folks here expressing their desire not to be "kept alive". But why are they also expressing their desire to kill this woman? They are basing their opinions as to her "value" based on their own comfort. Some I have seen are practically supporting murder of anyone with a physical defect. We should be afraid of these people as they will vote this way in the future.

She will not only die from dehydration, but in most cases such as this the person is very heavily sedated which further depresses the respiratory system and hastens death.

"Just how alive is she? My understanding is hardly at all."

Dear justshutup,

How alive are you? Is your heart beating? Are your lungs inhaling and exhaling? Can you blink your eyes? Can you smile? Can you see others around you and recognize family and friends? If you answered yes, then you are as alive as Terri Schindler. The difference is, she can't talk or walk. You can. Do you believe what the news is telling you? Do you know what a coma is? I do. How much money should we spend on you if something, God Forbid, would cause you to be unable to walk or talk. Just how much is a human being worth now a days? Get a grip.
